Seventeen Students Selected for Chamber’s ACT Wall of Honor

CARROLL COUNTY, Tenn. (April 14) — One of the roles of the Carroll County Chamber of Commerce is to recognize individuals, businesses, etc., for excellence. The Chamber recognized seventeen students for achieving a score of at least 29 on the national ACT exam. A perfect score on the ACT is 36.

The Carroll County Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors created the ACT Wall of Honor in 2013.

Including the Class of 2025, 168 students have been honored. 

The seventeen students are: Briley Arnold, Lainey Bales, Elijah Carter, Rachel Essary, Nolan Foley, Samuel Freeman, Allyson Gibson, Brilynn Hampton, Tylan Johnson, Carter Kee, Anna Grace King, Hannah Lee, Nate Moore, Daniel Ou, Sawyer Sutton, Mary Williams, and Amelia Yeager.

“These students are in the top seven percent in the nation of all the students who took the ACT exam,” said Brad Hurley, Chamber President. “Their academic excellence is exemplary, and the expectations for these young women and men are extremely high.”

“The Chamber’s board and its membership are proud of these young women and men for striving to attain excellence,” said Cliff Sturdivant, board chairman of the Carroll County Chamber of Commerce.

“These

students have set high standards for themselves, and we know that, by keeping their standards high, they will be successful in every endeavor they undertake.”

American College Testing (ACT) is a standardized test for high school achievement and college admission. This 65-year-old test consists of four concentrations: English, mathematics, reading, and science reasoning, with an optional writing component.

The four main tests are scored individually on a scale of 1 to 36, and a composite score is provided, which is the whole number average of the four scores.

“By recognizing these outstanding students, the Chamber acknowledges the great job our teachers, administration, and staff are doing every day in our schools,” said Hurley. “We know they are positively impacting the lives of our young people.”

 

The servers for the event were Bethel Coach Chris Nelson, Andrew Maddox, Jacob Smothers, and Brian Winston.

The meal was prepared by and served at Mallard’s Restaurant.

The Carroll County Chamber of Commerce was founded in 1981 for the purpose of advancing the commercial, industrial, civic and general interests of the County of Carroll and its trade area.
