Drug Charges — On December 27, Deputy Dustin McClure observed a blue 2008 Chevrolet Impala turning onto Highway 70 from Old Bruceton Highway. The vehicle appeared to have window tint darker than the legal limit, and the driver was seen repeatedly checking his mirrors before pulling into a convenience store in Hollow Rock.

Deputy McClure later observed the vehicle leave the store and travel back toward Bruceton. While following, the vehicle crossed the white fog line multiple times. A traffic stop was initiated to check on the driver and determine if impairment or a medical issue was present.

The driver was identified as Bradley Keith Douglas, 50, of Buchanan. Douglas appeared nervous and admitted he had been talking to his passenger. While speaking with both occupants, Deputy McClure observed behavior consistent with nervousness and attempted self-soothing.

Douglas was found to have an active failure-to-appear warrant out of Stewart County. While checking on the passenger, deputies located a torn plastic baggie on the ground near the driver’s side of the vehicle that field-tested positive for methamphetamine residue. A K-9 unit later conducted an open-air sniff and alerted to the presence of narcotics.

A search of the vehicle located a glass pipe commonly used to smoke methamphetamine, along with additional items containing residue. After Douglas was transported to the Carroll County Jail, deputies discovered additional plastic baggies in the patrol vehicle. One baggie contained approximately 9.6 grams of a crystalline substance, which field-tested positive for methamphetamine.

Douglas was arrested and charged with possession of Schedule II methamphetamine with intent to distribute, driving while in possession of methamphetamine, unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia, tampering with evidence and failure to appear. Evidence was logged and secured, and a search warrant was obtained for the extraction of data from a cellular device.

Domestic Assault Arrest — On December 26, Deputy Heather Townes responded to a domestic disturbance on Clay Farm Road in Trezevant involving Tommy Joe Kail Jr., 40, of Trezevant.

During the investigation, deputies learned that an argument between Kail and a family member escalated inside the residence. The dispute reportedly began over messages found on a phone and continued throughout the evening. The situation intensified when Kail allegedly began yelling, using vulgar language and preventing the victim from leaving the residence.

Deputies were advised that Kail stood in front of a vehicle attempting to stop it from leaving while continuing to yell. A juvenile was inside the vehicle during the incident. Video footage of the confrontation was provided to law enforcement.

Kail was taken into custody and arrested on charges of domestic assault and false imprisonment.

Theft — On December 22, Deputy Dillon Crowe responded to a report of a stolen dump trailer from a property along Highway 79 in McKenzie.

The trailer had last been seen at the location earlier that morning and was discovered missing a short time later. The owner reported no surveillance cameras in the area and had no known suspects. The trailer was described as having visible damage, including bent doors and a flat tire, and bore identifying markings on the front.

Information related to the stolen trailer was entered into the NCIC database. The incident remains under investigation.
