From the Aug 13, 2024 e-EditionTheft From Building — On August 1, Deputy Grant Davis responded to a residence on Cotton Creek Rd. in Bruceton in reference to a stolen lawn mower. The complainant, Christy Lubben stated that on July 31, a man was at the residence and appeared under the influence while there. The complainant stated an argument ensued with the man and made him leave. The next day, a lawnmower was missing from the residence. That mower was there to be repaired and was owned by a third party. They believe the man came back over during the night and stole the lawnmower from them. No arrests have been made in the case.
Evading Arrest, Unlawful possession of a Firearm by a Felon — On August 5, Deputy Thomas conducted a traffic stop on a silver Buick for failure to maintain lane. As he approached the driver, Ashley Williams, an odor of marijuana came out of the vehicle. The passenger, Bryan Eubanks, 20, of Jackson, came back showing a warrant from Maine. Due to the odor of marijuana, a search on the vehicle was performed where a gun was retrieved from under Bryan’s seat and he admitted it was his. Deputy Thomas began to tell Eubanks that he was under arrest, and he took off running on foot. He made it about 30 yards from the vehicle before being placed under arrest.
Burglary/Breaking and Entering — On August 5, Investigator Meggs received information that inmate Joseph Berggren would like to speak with an investigator in reference to items being stolen from his residence while he is incarcerated. Joseph said he received information from family members that items had been stolen from his residence without permission. He stated he had a friend advise him the items were scraped at a recycling center in Milan. Surveillance video at the scrap yard revealed the named suspect did scrap Berggren’s scrap metal.
