Tandy Announces Grant Funds for Browning Museum in McKenzie
From the Oct 29, 2024 e-EditionNASHVILLE, - State Rep. Tandy Darby, R-Greenfield, today announced a $19,060 Capital Maintenance and Improvement Grant has been awarded to the Gov. Gordon Browning Museum in McKenzie.
The competitive grants are administered by the Tennessee State Museum to museums and historic sites across the state for accessibility improvements, window and roof repairs and replacements, foundation work, and HVAC and electrical projects.
“The Gov. Gordon Browning Museum is an exceptional place to learn about Tennessee’s 38th governor and Carroll County’s rich history,” Darby said. “From transportation and agriculture to manufacturing and education, our community’s unique past has much to offer residents of all ages. I’m grateful to the museum for their commitment to preservation, and I thank the Tennessee State Museum for working hard to allocate these important funds.”
The funds are part of a $5 million appropriation approved by the General Assembly for the Tennessee State Museum in the 2024-25 state budget.
Eighty-three museums across 46 counties received a Capital Maintenance and Improvement Grant this year. Since the program’s inception in 2023, museums in 68 counties have been awarded funds to help preserve Tennessee’s history.
