Tater Town Special Begins Sunday, August 30

GLEASON — Tater Week officially begins Sunday, August 30, 6 p.m. at First Baptist Church with a worship service led by Bethel University's Renaissance Choir.

The annual event honors Mrs. Debbie Robbins as the Tater Town Treasure.

The grand marshal of the annual grand parade is the Gleason Rotary Club.

Monday, August 31, begins with a block party in downtown Gleason, beginning at 6 p.m. It includes a costume contest at 7:30, children's chalk art, karaoke, food trucks, and music.

September 1 is the annual Tater Town Special Car Show, beginning at 7 p.m. in downtown Gleason. It also includes a Power Wheel Fun Race, 6:30 p.m. at Snider Park. A Youth Glow Run is 7 p.m. at Snider Park.

Youth Bingo is Wednesday, September 2 at the Gazelle Grounds, beginning at 6 p.m. 

Adult Bingo and Cake Walk are Thursday, September 3 at the Gazelle Grounds, beginning at 6 p.m.

Friday, September 3, is the Community BBQ Cook-Off at 5 p.m., $10 per plate. The Flashback Band will provide live music.

The Tater Town Special Parade and Vendor Fair closes out Tater Week on Saturday, September 5. 

JC Carey Memorial 5K Run is 7 a.m. with registration at 6:30 in front of the school. Registration fee is $10 for students and $20 for adults.

Jr. Parade begins at 9 a.m.followed by the Grand Parade. 

An alumni co-ed softball tournament is scheduled at Snider Park at 2 p.m.

The finale event is at the Gazelle Grounds from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
