Tater Town Special Marks 52nd Year

GLEASON — Gleason Gazelle's 52nd annual Tater Town Special concluded over the weekend following a week full of events during a very hot weather week.

Monday, August 31, began with a block party in downtown Gleason at 6 p.m. It included a costume contest at 7:30 p.m., children’s chalk art, karaoke, food trucks, and music.

September 1 featured the annual Tater Town Special Car Show, which started at 7 p.m. in downtown Gleason. The day also included a Power Wheel Fun Race at 6:30 p.m. at Snider Park, as well as a Youth Glow Run at 7 p.m. at Snider Park.

Youth Bingo took place on Wednesday, September 2, at the Gazelle Grounds, beginning at 6 p.m.

Adult Bingo and the Cake Walk were held on Thursday, September 3, at the Gazelle Grounds.

Friday, September 3, was the Community BBQ Cook-Off at 5 p.m. at $10 per plate. The Flashback Band provided live music.

The Tater Town Special Parade and Vendor Fair closed out Tater Week on Saturday, September 5.

The JC Carey Memorial 5K Run began at 7 a.m. in front of the school. 

The Jr. Parade was followed by the Grand Parade.

An alumni co-ed softball tournament was held at Snider Park at 2 p.m.

The finale event ran from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Gazelle Grounds.

The annual event honored Mrs. Debbie Robbins as the Tater Town Treasure.

The grand marshal of the annual grand parade was the Gleason Rotary Club.
