Tigers End Rebels’ Season

McKENZIE (February 19) — McKenzie High School hosted Hollow Rock-Bruceton Central Thursday for the opening round of the District 12-1A Boys Basketball Tournament. The Tigers took a thrilling 63-60 win to advance to the semifinals and end the Rebels’ season.
The Rebels took the first quarter, 14-11. Rebel Eli Vinson and Kason Brown each had a pair. Avery Brown and Cayden Ownby each hit two free throw shots. Cole Brown had a pair. Tiger Nic King had three pairs. Parker Finley hit two free throw shots. Brody Huff had a pair, and Seth Thomas hit a free throw shot.
The Rebels kept the lead at halftime, 27-25. Rebel A. Brown had two pairs. Nolan Facwett hit a three-point shot. Vinson had a pair, and K. Brown hit a free throw shot. Tigers Junah Smith and Sal Sala each hit a three-point shot. Finley had a pair and two free throw shots. King and Huff each had a pair.
The Tigers took the lead, 47-43, in the third quarter. Huff scored three pairs and three free throw shots. King had two pairs. Sala hit a three-point shot and a free throw shot. Finley hit a three-point shot, and Kaydince Banks had a pair. Smith hit a three-point shot and a free throw shot. Rebel C. Brown led with four pairs. A. Brown hit a three-point shot and a pair. Vinson had three free throw shots.
The Tigers held on in the fourth and won 63-60 against the Rebels. Tiger Huff had four pairs and a free throw shot. Smith hit two three-point shots and a free throw shot. Rebel Vinson led with three pairs and a free throw shot. Kason Brown had a pair and two free throw shots. A. Brown had two pairs, and Cayden Ownby had a pair.
Brody Huff led the Tigers with 22 points. Junah Smith scored 14 points. Nic King scored 12 points.
Eli Vinson and Avery Brown led the Rebels with 17 points each, followed by Cole Brown with ten points. Kason Brown had nine points.
