Trezevant Solar Farm Flip-the-Switch Event Happening Now
Carroll County Electric Department (CCED) and Tennessee-based Silicon Ranch, owner and operator of one of the nation’s largest fleets of solar facilities and a community-focused energy infrastructure company, invite you to attend a “Flip-the-Switch” ceremony for the new Trezevant Solar Farm in Carroll County, followed by a tour of the site, on Wednesday, September 10 at 10 a.m. CT.
WHAT:
Carroll County Electric Department and Silicon Ranch will ceremoniously “flip the switch” on the new Trezevant Solar Farm in Carroll County, marking the project’s start of commercial operations. The solar farm is generating low-cost, clean electricity to help power local homes and businesses across the CCED service area, strengthening the grid while creating new tax revenue that will support community-identified priorities. Approximately 100 students from local STEM education programs, including Huntingdon School District, McKenzie Special School District, South Carroll County School District, Hollow Rock-Bruceton Special School District, and West Carroll Special School District will attend the ceremony and have the opportunity to learn more about American-made energy infrastructure through a guided tour of the solar facility.
As the long-term owner of the Trezevant Solar Farm, Silicon Ranch takes a responsible approach to land stewardship through its Regenerative Energy® agribusiness, creating new opportunities for local farmers to graze livestock while promoting healthier soils, improved water quality, and enhanced wildlife habitat.
The Trezevant Solar Farm was developed as part of TVA's Generation Flexibility Program, a nationally recognized initiative designed to help local power companies (LPCs) develop distributed generation resources and meet their customers' growing demand for renewable energy. Because economic development is central to CCED's mission, access to flexible energy solutions helps the municipal continue providing safe, reliable, and cost-effective electricity to more than 16,000 customers across more than 1,400 miles of distribution lines in West Tennessee. All the while, the Trezevant facility helps promote rate stability for customers with the cost savings from buying locally-generated solar energy at a predictable fixed rate over the next 30 years.
During the ceremony, Samantha Carlton will honor her late husband, Chance Carlton, a dedicated lineman who lost his life while restoring power during severe storms in April last year.
WHO:
Speakers will include:
- Carroll County Chamber of Commerce: Brad Hurley, President
- Silicon Ranch: Matt Brown, VP of Business Development
- Silicon Ranch: Matt Kisber, Chairman of the Board
- CCED: Ryan Drewry, General Manager
- CCED: Lori Nolen, Board Chairman
