War Eagles Edge Yellowjackets for First Win, Greenfield Girls Ride Early Lead
From the Dec 23, 2025 e-EditionATWOOD (December 16) — West Carroll High School hosted Greenfield Tuesday for a pair of basketball contests. The Lady War Eagles were unable to overcome a big first-quarter deficit despite playing Greenfield even for the final three frames, and the Lady Yellowjackets took the win, 69-54. The War Eagles shook off a double-digit halftime deficit with a monster third quarter and claimed a 47-44 win, their first of the young season.

It appeared the Lady Yellowjackets would run away with the game after a 27-14 opening frame, but the Lady War Eagles shut down that momentum with a 19-18 edge in the second quarter.
Greenfield ticked up the lead with a 13-10 advantage in the third, and the final frame was an 11-11 wash.
Lady Yellowjacket Ella Porter led all scorers with 33 points, including a trio of three-pointers. Maddie Paschall scored ten with a three. Skylar Arnold had nine points, and Kylee McNeil scored seven. Madelyn Coble and Ashlyn Bryant each had four points, and Campbell McCallister had a pair.
Chloe Rimmer led West Carroll with 18 points, including a trio of threes. Hailey Mitchell scored 17. Abbi O'Bryan had six points, and Alayna Lovelace scored five. Gracelyn Vernon and Kinsley Poff each hit a three-pointer, and Marissa Mueller had a pair.
Turnovers hurt the Lady War Eagles as they committed 28 to Greenfield's 11, but West Carroll outrebounded the Lady Yellowjackets 29-18, led by Mitchell with seven, O'Bryan with six and Rimmer with five.

Greenfield started strong with a 13-6 lead after the first frame, and a 12-3 advantage in the second made it a 25-9 tilt at the half.
West Carroll rallied 27-7 in the third to take a 36-32 lead into the final frame. A 12-11 edge in the fourth wasn't enough for the Yellowjackets to retake the lead.
War Eagle Demarion Gilbert led all scorers with 20 points, including four three-pointers. Trey Williamson scored eight with a three. Mason Taylor had six points, and Bryler O'Neal scored five with a three-pointer. Isaiah Snyder and Chandler Rimmer each had four points.
