West Carroll Swept by Middleton

ATWOOD (January 9) — West Carroll High School hosted Middleton Thursday for a pair of district basketball contests. The Lady War Eagles fell to the Lady Tigers 55-31, and the Tigers topped the War Eagles 66-24.

The Lady Tigers had a 16-10 edge after the first frame, led by Harmony Bell with eight points. TyAngela Geanes scored seven, and KeMora Buggs hit a free throw. Lady War Eagle Hailey Mitchell scored four points. Gracelyn Vernon and Alayna Lovelace each had a pair, and Aubrey Hammett and Triniti Adkisson each hit a free throw.

Middleton had a 15-3 advantage in the second quarter, led by Bell with nine points. K. Buggs hit a three-pointer, Laila Buggs had a pair, and Ronaia Talley hit a free throw. Mitchell had all three West Carroll points. At the half, Middleton led 31-13.

The Lady Tigers enjoyed an 18-6 tilt in the third, led by Bell with a dozen. Talley scored four points, and Melody Perry had a pair. Mitchell, Vernon and Taylor Robinson each had a pair for the Lady War Eagles. Entering the final frame, the Lady Tigers led 49-19.

West Carroll doubled up Middleton 12-6 in the fourth, led by Mitchell with five points. Vernon scored three points, and Robinson and Abbi O’Bryan each had a pair. Narayan Williams scored three points for the Lady Tigers, Perry added a pair, and Geanes hit a free throw.

Lady Tiger Harmony Bell led all scorers with 29 points.

Hailey Mitchell led West Carroll with 14 points.

Tigers 66, War Eagles 24
Middleton led 19-11 after the first frame, led by Tamarcus Smith with six points. Savion Hoyle scored four, and Clifton Davis hit a three-pointer. Jeremiah Woody, Jordan Woody and James Glass each had a pair. War Eagle Kayden Melton scored seven points. Chandler Rimmer and Isaiah Snyder each had a pair.

The Tigers had a 24-2 advantage in the second quarter, led by Jo. Woody with ten points. Je. Woody scored four points. Hoyle, Jadavion Bills, Kaleb Holmes, Kylan Anderson and Tyler Perry each had a pair. Melton added a pair for West Carroll. At the half, the Tigers led 43-13.

Middleton had a 17-5 tilt in the third, led by Kenneth Williams with four points. Davis and D.J. Tate each hit a three-pointer. Jo. Woody, Glass and Chartavian Tate each had a pair. Hoyle hit a freebie. Rimmer and Demarion Gilbert each had a pair for West Carroll, and Skyler Wilhite hit a free throw. Heading into the final frame, Middleton led 60-18.

The fourth was a 6-6 wash. Wilhite hit a three for the War Eagles. Gilbert added a pair, and Melton hit a freebie. Bills, Williams and Glass each added a pair for the Tigers.

Middleton’s Jordan Woody led all scorers with 14 points. Savion Hoyle scored seven.

Kayden Melton led West Carroll with ten points.
