HUNTINGDON (November 13) — The Carroll County Commission met Monday, November 13. The topic of interest for the night dealt mainly with Carroll County’s emergency services. During the citizens’ forum, Jan Ostiguy asked questions regarding Carroll County’s future plans to address the needs of emergency services and who is involved in the decision-making process. She added that once the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) money is no longer available how will the county pursue the necessary upgrades to emergency equipment and asked for commissioners to respond to the questions instead of letting them go by the wayside. more

CHATTANOOGA (December 2) — The McKenzie Rebel football team has brought gold home to McKenzie just in time for Christmas. The Rebels defeated Clay County Friday afternoon, 34-14. This was McKenzie’s first state championship win for football in three appearances at the state championship round, 2007, 2021, and 2022. more
Average gasoline prices in Tennessee decreased 9.8 cents per gallon in the last week, averaging $2.72 per gallon today, according to GasBuddy’s survey of 3,821 stations in Tennessee. Prices in Tennessee are 47.2 cents per gallon lower than a month ago and stand 26.3 cents per gallon lower than a year ago. The national average price of diesel has fallen 14.1 cents in the last week and stands at $4.77 per gallon. more

HUNTINGDON (June 28) — The 2022-23 fiscal year budget for the Town of Huntingdon was delayed due to “extenuating circumstances” caused by the budgets of the Carroll County Watershed Authority and the town being associated. The Watershed is selling the Carroll County 1000-Acre Lake to the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency. That transfer has not been completed but is anticipated in July. more

CARROLL COUNTY — Carroll County 1000-Acre Recreational Lake is now owned by the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency. That transfer of ownership occurred on July 1 with an intragovernment transfer of assets from the Carroll County Watershed Authority, a state agency to TWRA, another state agency. more
