Bethel/Eastside FCE News
From the Jul 14, 2026 e-EditionThe Bethell/Eastside FCE met Thursday, June 11 in the lovely home of Pennye and Mary Mays.
Seven members were present as well as our agent, Lacy Yeley. The meeting was called to order, and the Collect was read by our president, Gail Eubanks.
Roll call was answered with, “If you could add one change to your home to make life easier, what would it be?” Most of us said we would like to add a maid. That would make life easier!
The May meeting was skipped because we met at the lake, so minutes were read from the April meeting. The treasury report was given: still in the black.
Discussing old business, Bethel/Eastside FCE is still doing meals in a bag. Five meals were donated to the Carl Perkins Center last month. Cakes for the nursing home is another ongoing project. This month, it was Danita Laman’s turn to take two cakes to the nursing home. Whoever is the hostess for the month is also responsible for the devotion, cakes and educational program.
In new business, Bethel/Eastside FCE learned that October is Fire Safety Month. It was suggested we meet at the firehouse for an actual demonstration of a fire. This was tabled for a Saturday in a cooler month, to be discussed more. The club voted to give $50 for a basket at the Mini Conference.
The next cluster meeting is July 24 in Benton County. The Carroll County Fair is August 8-16, and Mini Conference is August 12.
The educational program was given in the month of June. There are assigned national days to each month, but when I went to the web and typed in happenings in June, I was given a calendar of events for each day with a dessert. I shared this with the club:
June is Alzheimer’s and Brain Awareness Month, Men’s Health Month, National Employees Wellness Month, and National Migraine and Headache Awareness Month.
June is the home of National Donut Day, Flag Day, Juneteenth, National Handshake Day and even Milkshake Day on Saturday, June 20. Three of our ladies met for milkshakes to celebrate that day!
The hostess for July is Judy Roberts.
Tip for the day: deep clean your microwave.
