McKENZIE (July 9) — McKenzie High School graduate Brody Berryhill has been awarded a scholarship from the Volunteer Auxiliary at West Tennessee Healthcare Henry County Hospital.
The Volunteer Auxiliary raises funds for its annual scholarship program through sales at the hospital's gift shop. Scholarships are awarded to graduating seniors who plan to pursue careers in the healthcare field, supporting the next generation of compassionate medical professionals.
Berryhill, the valedictorian of McKenzie High School's class of 2026, will attend the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga this fall, where he plans to major in Biochemistry.
His decision to pursue a career in healthcare is deeply personal. After witnessing his father's health decline over an extended period, Berryhill found a calling to make a difference in the lives of others facing medical challenges. That experience inspired him to dedicate his future to caring for those who need it most.
"I realized that healthcare is where I am meant to be," Berryhill said. "Seeing what my family experienced gave me a greater appreciation for the people who care for patients and their families. I want to be able to provide that same level of compassion and support to others."
The Volunteer Auxiliary's scholarship program reflects its ongoing commitment to investing in students who demonstrate academic excellence and a passion for serving others. Through the continued support of the hospital gift shop, the Auxiliary helps deserving students pursue their educational goals and prepare for meaningful careers in healthcare.
