The Third Annual Dr. Tony Janner Memorial Golf Tournament was Saturday, July 15 at Carroll Lake Golf Course. Although very rainy and overcast skies loomed right up until the 8 a.m. tee-time, the sixty golfers were able to complete their round of scramble-format golf in what turned out to be a very pleasant morning! A great grab-and-go lunch, grilled by Mark Holloman and Reggie Wiggins, hit the spot with all the players. Play moved along pretty swiftly and everyone seemed to enjoy the fellowship throughout the morning. more

MARTIN (July 18) — Several Carroll County students were awarded scholarships to attend the University of Tennessee at Martin for the 2023-24 academic year, according to Dr. James Mantooth, executive director, Office of Enrollment Services and Student Engagement. Some students awarded are incoming freshmen, and some are returning students. more
McKENZIE (July 24) — The McKenzie Special School District faculty and staff have officially said goodbye to summer break and hello to the 2023-24 school year. While students begin school on August 1, all school district staff began inservice training Monday, July 24. more

JACKSON — Contestants for the 2023 Miss Tennessee Volunteer Pageant checked in at the Carl Perkins Civic Center in Jackson on Saturday, July 22, officially starting Tennessee’s biggest pageant of the season and its festivities. NASHVILLE (July 18) — The Tennessee Department of Education released the 2022-23 Tennessee Comprehensive Assessment Program (TCAP) district-level results, following the release of the state-level results last month. The results include high school Fall 2022 end-of-course (EOC) exams and Spring 2023 exams in English language arts (ELA), mathematics, science, and social studies. The data is presented by subject, grade and student group, and district. more
