PARIS (November 5) — The Marching War Eagles of West Carroll High School traveled to Henry County High School this past weekend to compete in the Division I Tenn. State Marching Band Championships. Even with the rain and wind the band went into their preliminary performance with the best show to date, according to the news release. more

PARIS — Henry County Medical Center (HCMC) welcomed eight new third-year medical students from Lincoln Memorial University’s DeBusk College of Osteopathic Medicine to campus on Friday, July 15. Following the onboarding process, the students began to assist healthcare providers in the hospital and within clinics in the surrounding area.  more
HUNTINGDON — Bethel University’s Renaissance Theatre is offering one more weekend of Phantom of the Opera at The Dixie Carter Performing Arts Center in Huntingdon. It is a tremendous show performed by extremely talented actors and vocalists.  more
The McKenzie Garden Club met on Friday, October 28, at the Lakeside Senior Living Community and hosted by members Donna Herrin and Donna Hodge. Donna Hodge gave the devotional on the importance of speaking gently instead of in anger. Thirteen members answered the roll call and member, Mona Batchelor, introduced her guest, Karen Forester. Karen was the daughter-in-law of a former member, Willie Mae Forester, and is an avid gardener who recently moved to McKenzie with her husband, Mark.  more

McKENZIE (October 27) — Hospital Drive in McKenzie no longer includes a hospital, but there are still medical facilities, a new high-tech company, and a newly renovated headquarters for Carroll County Emergency Medical Services (EMS).  more
McKENZIE (October 29) — McKenzie Elementary School hosted its annual Fall Fest on Saturday, October 29 and generated approximately $24,000 for the school. MES Parent-Teacher Organization, faculty and other staff organized the event, which included silent auctions of merchandise donated by area merchants, teachers, and other community members, games for the kids, and costume contests. more

On the first Sunday in November, people across North America will adjust their clocks, turning them back one hour and thus returning Daylight Saving Time back to Standard Time. When spring arrives anew, the clocks once again will move forward an hour. This phenomenon has taken place for more than 50 years. more

The Bethel-Eastside Family and Community Education (FCE) group met on October 13 in the home of Mary and Pennye Mays with 10 members present. Hostess for the meeting was Gail Eubanks who presented the devotion. Roll call was answered using a favorite fall activity from childhood such as trick or treat, hay rides, making popcorn and the fair.  more
