Carroll County Humane Society Hosts Halloween Bingo, Cake Walk
The Carroll County Humane Society will host a Halloween Bingo and Cake Walk on Saturday, October 29, 2022, at the Farm Bureau Insurance building, 125 Third Avenue, Huntingdon. Fun for the entire family begins at 1 p.m. Donations of cakes for the cake walk are appreciated. For more information, contact the shelter at their new phone number 731-358-1019.
 
County Budget Committee to Meet
The County Budget Committee meets the fourth Thursday of each month. The meeting is 10 a.m. in the conference room of the County Complex.
 
Yard Sale McKenzie Senior Center
The McKenzie Senior Center is participating in the city-wide yard sale on Saturday, October 8, from 7 a.m. until 3 p.m. Sausage biscuits, orange juice, coffee and milk will be available for sale inside the Center, 172 Main Street South. Shoppers making a purchase will receive a ticket for a free beverage. If you would like to set up a table outside, the fee is $10 and you must provide your own table.
 
McKenzie City-Wide Yard Sale This Weekend
Everyone Welcome! McKenzie City-Wide Yard Sale is happening this weekend, October 7-8. The city makes a map/list of sales that are happening throughout the city. Maps are available at McKenzie City Hall. For more information, please call city hall at 731-352-2292.
 
Bethel Homecoming Weekend October 21-23
The Jerry Wilcoxson Memorial Golf Tournament will tee off on Friday, October 21, 2022, 11 a.m., at the Carroll Lake Golf Club, 1305 Carroll Lake Road, McKenzie. 
On Saturday, October 22, the Athletic Hall of Fame and Alumni Awards Breakfast begins at 9 a.m. followed by the Wall of Faith Recognition ceremony at 10:30 a.m. Wildcat Alley, a collection of food trucks, craft vendors, alumni tent, live music and carnival rides, begins at 10:30 a.m. The Alumni and Friends Tailgate Tent Opens at 11:30 a.m. and Bethel Football against Thomas More kicks off at 1 p.m.
On Sunday, October 23, Worship with the Renaissance Choir begins at 11 a.m. at the First Cumberland Presbyterian Church, 16835 Highland Drive, McKenzie. For information on these and other Homecoming events, contact Bethel University at 731-352-4000. 
 
McKenzie Farmers Market
McKenzie Farmers Market is open Saturdays at 8 a.m., 2431 Cedar Street, in downtown McKenzie. The former Studebaker dealership was converted to an indoor/outdoor farmers market and allows area citizens to sell their homemade and homegrown foods and other products. 
It is open every Saturday morning through October. Also visit on Tuesday afternoons, 2-6 p.m. Watch for special children’s activities sponsored by the Carroll County 4-H and Agriculture Extension Service. 
Admission is free. The facility is sponsored by the City of McKenzie. For vendor information, phone City Hall at 731-352-2292. 
 
Carroll County Schools on Fall Break
Carroll County Schools will observe fall break next week, October 10-15. Classes will resume Monday, October 17. 
 
Carroll County Commission Meets Monthly
Carroll County Commission meets the second Monday of each month, 7 p.m., in the Conference Room of the Carroll County Office Complex, High Street, Huntingdon. There are no meetings in December, February, and July.
 
Scholastic Clay Target Program Recruiting Day October 8
Tennessee Wildlife Federation’s Scholastic Clay Target Program (SCTP) is hosting 4th-12th grade students at the Carroll County Shooting Sports Park on Saturday, October 8, 2022, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. to try shooting sports. 
This free recruiting day introduces youth to the world of shotgun shooting and connects them to a team in their area. SCTP teaches the importance of safe firearms handling, responsibility, leadership, teamwork and healthy competition. No previous experience is needed. Beginners are guided through firearm safety and instruction from a highly trained coach before having the chance to hit a few practice targets. Interested youth must have a legal guardian present to participate. Safety equipment will be provided for each participant. Most locations will have firearms available, but participants are encouraged to bring any equipment they own.

Shepherd’s Table Community Kitchen
On the third and fourth Tuesdays of each month, The Shepherd’s Table community kitchen serves meals at First Presbyterian Church located at 19835 E. Main Street, Huntingdon, Tenn. Meals are served restaurant style with drive through available after 6 p.m. It is open to the public and there is no cost. Donations are accepted. All are invited.
Food scarcity is real in this area and the Shepherd’s Table’s success is dependent on the support of volunteers and donations. The meals are prepared by volunteer staff hosted by different congregations in our town and donated by local businesses. The community kitchen was created by a group of volunteers who saw the need in the Carroll County community. They need volunteers. Adult Education Classes
Huntingdon Location - Adult Education Building, 14155 Paris Street. Office hours are Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Classes are offered for one-on-one instruction on Mondays, 1-4 p.m. and Thursdays, 9 a.m. to noon. For more information, phone 731-364-5481.
 
Council Meets Monthly
The McKenzie City Council meets at 6 p.m. the second Thursday of each month. 
 
Prayer on the Square
The Prayer on the Square is held the second Saturday each month, 9 a.m. at The Network on the Court Square in Huntingdon. All denominations are welcome.
