Carroll County Emergency Communications District Meeting December 15
The Carroll County Emergency Communications District regular meeting is Thursday, December 15, at 2:30 p.m. This is a date and time change from Monday, December 12, 2022, at 6 p.m. The meeting is at 125 Court Square, Huntingdon.
 
Carroll County Toys For Tots
Donate an unwrapped toy or monetary donation to the Carroll County Toys for Tots campaign. Toy donations will be collected at the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office and Carroll County Sheriff’s Office Communication Center through Monday, December 19. Monetary donations may be dropped off or mailed to Jamie Summers at the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office, 200 Norandal Drive, Huntingdon, or visit toysfortots.org. Please make checks payable to Carroll County Toys for Tots.
Toys for Tots applications for children ages 0-12 years old can be picked up at the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office Communication Center at 210 Norandal Dr., Huntingdon. Applications must received no later than November 30. For additional information, contact the Carroll County Toys for Tots Coordinator, Jamie Summers, at 731-986-8947 or visit toysfortots.org.
 
Huntingdon Board of Education Meeting December 15
The Huntingdon Board of Education meets Thursday, December 15, 2022, at 5 p.m. The meeting is at the Huntingdon Central Office located at 585 High Street, Huntingdon.
 
National Wreaths Across America Day December 17
Join Wreaths Across America on Thursday, December 17, for a wreath-laying ceremony at 12 p.m. to remember and honor the veterans laid to rest at Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery at Parker’s Crossroads. The cemetery is located at 593 Wildersville Road, Wildersville.
 
Christmas Day Dinner Johnson Temple CME Church December 25
The Fourth Annual Christmas Day Dinner will be served to the public on Sunday, December 25, at the Johnson Temple CME Church, 915 Walnut Avenue West, McKenzie. The public is invited to this free dinner from 12-2 p.m.
 
Shepherd’s Table Community Kitchen
On the third Tuesdays of each month, The Shepherd’s Table community kitchen serves meals at First Presbyterian Church located at 19835 E. Main Street, Huntingdon. Meals are served restaurant style with drive-through available after 6 p.m. It is open to the public and there is no cost. Donations are accepted. All are invited.
It is our mission to create a community atmosphere where individuals can come in and have a meal and a comfortable setting. We encourage friendly conversation, prayers and laughter. Carroll County Commission Meets Monthly
Carroll County Commission meets the second Monday of each month, 7 p.m., in the Conference Room of the Carroll County Office Complex, High Street, Huntingdon. There are no meetings in December, February, and July.
 
Henry County Sheriff’s Office Accepting Deer Donations
The Henry County Sheriff’s Office is accepting deer for the ‘Deputies for the Hungry’ program through December 30, 2022. Deer may be dropped off daily at the Henry County Sheriff’s Office, 210 Forrest Heights Road, Paris, between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. Hunters must have the deer checked in prior to arrival and have the confirmation number ready for deer shed personnel. All deer must be field dressed prior to drop off. Due to limited storage capacity and Chronic Wasting Disease (CWD) testing procedures, the Henry County Sheriff’s Office may have to suspend the program and will notify the public should that occur. For each deer donated, hunters receive a ticket for a drawing to win a Precision Shooting Equipment (PSE) crossbow. The drawing will be held at Hulmes Sporting Goods, 3735 US-641, Paris, at a date to be announced. The offices are closed on Thanksgiving day, Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.
 
Adult Education Classes
Huntingdon Location - Adult Education Building, 14155 Paris Street. Office hours are Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Classes are offered for one-on-one instruction on Mondays, 1-4 p.m. and Thursdays, 9 a.m. to noon. For more information, phone 731-364-5481.
 
Council Meets Monthly
The McKenzie City Council meets at 6 p.m. the second Thursday of each month. 
 
Prayer on the Square
The Prayer on the Square is held the second Saturday each month, 9 a.m. at The Network on the Court Square in Huntingdon. All denominations are welcome.
