McKENZIE — The TSSAA Class 1A state champion McKenzie Rebels football team members will receive their championship rings on Thursday, February 23, 6:30 p.m. at the MHS Theatre.
The 2022 campaign resulted in a 15-0 season and the first football championship in MHS history. In the championship game against Clay County, the Rebels took a 34-14 victory on December 2, 2022 in Chattanooga.
It was the first perfect season with a total of 666 points scored.
All players, coaches, managers, Principal Kelly Spivey, and Director of Schools Lynn Watkins will receive rings.
Community members are invited to share in this historic ring ceremony. Refreshments will follow the event.
The year 2022 was a great year for the Rebels and Lady Rebels, who won the 2022 Class 1A Ladies Basketball Championship and the Rebels baseball team was the runner-up in the Class 1A Baseball Championship.
