Ella, 17 years old, is a senior at Clarksville High School in Clarksville, Tennessee. She earned the 21 merit badges required to receive the Eagle Scout award and built and placed wood duck boxes for her Eagle Scout project. Wood ducks use natural tree boxes for nesting, but with shrinking natural areas they will use artificial boxes.
“This Eagle Scout rank is easily the most challenging and fun thing I’ve ever done, said Ella. As an Eagle Scout, I am part of a community of trailblazers who are changing the face of Scouting. I am grateful to my fellow Scouts, my mentors, my friends and my family for supporting me on this journey. I am proud to be a part of a movement that is committed to inclusivity, diversity, and equality.”
The mission of the Boy Scouts of America is to prepare young people to make ethical and moral choices over their lifetimes by instilling in them the values of the Scout Oath and Law.
