HUNTINGDON (May 11) — Huntingdon Middle School hosted "The Amazing Shake" Monday, May 11, in the middle school gym. Approximately 120 students from the school's fourth- through eighth-grade classes participated in the inaugural event.

The Amazing Shake provides students with opportunities to strengthen their problem-solving skills, communication and professionalism through real-world interactions. Students were challenged to practice these skills with volunteers and community sponsors.
"In today's world, communication and interpersonal skills are more important than ever," Huntingdon Middle School Principal Rachel Williams said. "Our primary goal was to encourage students to step outside of their comfort zones and become more confident communicating with adults in a professional setting."

Fourth-grade student Amelia Herman was Monday's overall winner. The top 16 finalists included Collyns Wood, Knox White, Skylynn Williams, Bennett Ramsey, Taylor Chandler, Garrett Fowler, Gabi Vinson, Bree Jones, Jessiana Toler, Karlee Pruitt, Odyssey Williams, Piper Carey, Aelyn Sevarns, Ella Atkins and Harlon Butler.

"Our students performed exceptionally well, and we could not be prouder of them," Williams said. "It was incredibly rewarding to watch their growth throughout the year and see them showcase the skills they have developed. Some of our quietest and most introverted students truly stepped up and shined in the spotlight."

Williams recognized several volunteers and community sponsors for their help in making the Amazing Shake happen, including CupKate's, Madi & Co, Small Town Blessings, E3 Fitness, FirstBank, Carroll Bank and Trust, Carroll County Electric Department, West TN Public Utility District, Hunter Jones, Bill Ezell, Carroll County Chamber of Commerce, Labe Ezell, Eric Swenson, Lee Butler, David Hale, Walter Butler, Mi Pueblito, Mayor Chad Edwards, County Mayor Joseph Butler, Rep. Brock Martin, Bennett Hardware, Brad Livingston, Cayce Maddox, Johnny Beth Nolen, Maddox Insurance and Teresa Donald.

"Their support helped make this event such a success for our students," Williams said.

The Ron Clark Academy created "The Amazing Shake" to emphasize teaching students manners, discipline, respect and professional conduct. The Ron Clark Academy also developed the House System. This is Huntingdon Middle School's first time hosting the competition.
