Huntingdon Teams Claim Middle School Championships

HUNTINGDON (December 11) — Huntingdon Middle School Fillies and Mustangs are the county champions of the annual Carroll County Middle School Basketball Tournament.
 
Clarksburg, Huntingdon, West Carroll, and McKenzie teams participated. Hollow Rock-Bruceton did not participate in the tournament.
 
GIRLS — In the opening round on Thursday, McKenzie Lady Rebels defeated Clarksburg and Huntingdon Fillies defeated West Carroll to advance to the final championship game on Saturday featuring McKenzie Lady Rebels and Huntingdon Fillies. The game was at the Huntingdon Middle School.
 
In the championship game, Huntingdon edged McKenzie 45 to 41 to earn the 2022 championship title. 
 
McKenzie was led by Jaycee Stafford with 23 points, followed by Madeline Gottshall with 7, Kynadie Brown with 6, Aurora Johnson with 2, Addison Milam with 2, and Braylin Auvenshine with 1.
 
Huntingdon Fillies was led by Wylie Kee with 12, Grier Bartholomew with 10, Millie Luther with 9, Knox Bennett with 6, Emalynn Maness with 4, and Camdyn Sellers and Tatum Rich with 2 each.
 
All-County Team members were Carlie Swinford (11) Clarksburg; Camdyn Sellers (11) Huntingdon; Taylor Canovan (10) Huntingdon; Addison Milan (9) McKenzie; Grier Bartholomew (8) Huntingdon; Airyanna Metcalf (7) West Carroll; Grace Coleman (5) West Carroll; Wylie Kee (5) Huntingdon; Madeline Gottshall (4) McKenzie; Taylor Robinson (3) West Carroll; and Knox Bennett (2) Huntingdon. Jaycee Stafford (23) McKenzie was named as the MVP.
 
BOYS — In the opening round on Thursday, Huntingdon Mustangs defeated Clarksburg Rockets and West Carroll War Eagles defeated the McKenzie Rebels. On Saturday, the championship game featured the Huntingdon Mustangs and West Carroll War Eagles. Huntingdon was the winner of that contest with a score of 60 to 23.
 
West Carroll was led by Darian Taylor with 15, followed by Jack Robinson with 3 and Jace Hammett with 3 and Parker Bosley with 2.
 
Huntingdon was led by Kenton Smith with 31, Kylen Turner with 11, Hayes Eubanks with 5, Zaydon Connelly with 4, Maddox Holmes with 4, and Lucas Smith with 2.
 
The All-County Team members were Kylen Turner (12) Huntingdon; Reagan Halter (11) Clarksburg; Jack Robinson (10) West Carroll; Lucas Smith (9) Huntingdon; Jace Hammett (8) West Carroll; Avery Brown (7) McKenzie; Jacobi Melton (6) McKenzie; Bryson Holladay (5) Huntingdon; Nolan Fawcett (4) McKenzie; Cole Brown (3) McKenzie; and Darion Taylor (2) West Carroll. The MVP was Kenton Smith (23) Huntingdon.
