In old business, the 46 boxes of crayons and assorted hygiene items collected at the February meeting were taken to the elementary school. President Moore thanked everyone for their support and donations for our school children. In new business, President Moore reminded everyone to bring glue sticks or other items to next month’s meeting. There being no more new business, President Moore introduced the program speaker, Victoria Ard.
Victoria presented her program on author Jana DeLeon who was born and raised in Southwest Louisiana just off the Gulf Coast. DeLeon received her Bachelor of Arts degree from McNeese State University and writes three novel series: Mudbug; Shaye Archer and the Miss Fortune series. DeLeon has been on the New York Times and USA Today best-selling list. Victoria shared a short synopsis of the latest Miss Fortune series. CIA operative-protagonist Fortune Redding’s cover was blown in Saudi Arabia when she killed the brother of a drug lord. Victoria said the action scenes were well written and the descriptive writing impressive. DeLeon now lives in Dallas, TX, but she keeps Louisiana as the setting in all her series.
