The Inglenook Book Club met Wednesday, January 11, at the Lakeside Senior Living Community in McKenzie with 20 members present. Hostesses were Peggy Chappell and Suzanne Howell who served delicious cherry cobbler with ice cream, mixed nuts medley and assorted beverages.

President Carolyn Moore called the meeting to order, thanked the hostesses and Victoria Ard for contacting members with the meeting reminder.
The Pledge of Allegiance, Club Aim and Motto were recited. The roll call was held and the December meeting minutes were announced and approved as read. Treasurer Donna Ward gave the Treasurer’s report with changes noted and they were approved as read.
President Moore acknowledged our January birthday, Gayron Lyles, and shared those members who have or had been ill or recovering with prayers continued for them. Sheila Rogers thanked everyone for the calls, cards and prayers while she was out.
In old business, President Moore acknowledged the abundance of food, personal hygiene items and school supplies donated to McKenzie Elementary School (MES) in 2022 and thanked members for their donations and contributions. The MES faculty and staff are appreciative of all the gifts. Sunshine Chair, Elaine Williams, will send greeting cards to members as needed and asked to be notified of contact information. Membership chair, Suzanne Howell, compiled a list of people interested in becoming a member and requested additional names. In new business, the 2023 yearbooks were passed out. There were some errors noted and corrected. Donna Ward mentioned the upcoming Carroll Arts Trivia Bowl scheduled Saturday, January 28, at 7 p.m. Due to the Christmas Day flooding at the First CP Church, Donna will confirm the new location of the event to members next week. A sign-up sheet was passed for those interested in attending.
Our January program was shared by each member who gave a synopsis of the book she has presented for 2023. Book passing was completed by Mary Newman. The next book passing date is January 25. Our next meeting is Wednesday, February 8, at 3 p.m. at Lakeside Senior Living Community in McKenzie. Hostesses will be Zia Locke and Beverly Mueller; the program will be presented by Suzanne Howell. The Benediction was recited by all and the meeting adjourned.
