Lady Bulldogs Overwhelm West Carroll

GLEASON — The Gleason Lady Bulldogs defeated the West Carroll Lady War Eagles 26-35.

The Gleason Lady Bulldogs were led to victory by Kaylee Tucker’s free-throw shooting. Tucker went 7-for-10 at the free-throw line. The Lady ‘Dawgs gained a lead in the first quarter and didn’t look back.

During the first quarter, Gleason was forced to shoot from the 3-point arc. Sophie Wilson drained two 3-pointers and Autumn Mingle made one shot behind the arc. Mingle added two more points to the board with a drive to the basket. Skylar Arnold had a shot in the paint for two points. Ava Sawyers made two shots at the free throw line for two points.

The Lady War Eagles were held to eight points during the first quarter. Kaylee Butler and Kasey Holmes drained a 3-point shot each. Nyoona Parker drove to the basket for two points. The Lady War Eagles trailed 15-8 going into the second quarter.

The Lady Bulldogs added eight points to their lead in the second quarter. Tucker drained four free throws, then drove to the basket for two points. Wilson tacked on two points with a shot in the paint.

Parker was the only Lady Eagle to score during the second quarter. Parker drove to the basket twice for four points. Gleason held a 23-12 lead over West Carroll at the break.

The Lady War Eagles were held to just four points once again in the third quarter. Butler drove to the basket for four points.

The Lady Bulldogs added six points to their lead in the third quarter. Maya Lamb had a shot in the paint. Tucker and Sawyers drove to the basket for two points. The Lady ‘Dawgs led 29-16 going into the final quarter.

West Carroll tried to rally in the final quarter scoring ten points. Skylar Jones drove to the basket for four points. Butler chalked up two points in the paint. Jansen Winberry drained a 3-pointer. Parker tacked on one point from the free-throw line.

The Lady Bulldogs secured their victory with free throws in the fourth quarter. Tucker made three shots from the line. Mingle made two shots. Jaeda Perry tacked on one point. The Lady Bulldogs drained six out of eight free throws in the final quarter to take a 35-26 victory.

The Lady Bulldogs will play host to the Dresden Lady Lions Tuesday, Jan. 24. The Lady War Eagles play host to the Clarksburg Lady Rockets on Tuesday, Jan. 24. Tipoff is 6 p.m. for both contests.

War Eagles Edge Bulldogs
The West Carroll War Eagles whizzed past the Gleason Bulldogs on Thursday night. The War Eagles took a 62-53 victory over the Bulldogs.

The Bulldogs fell behind in the first quarter and were held to single digits. Gage Byington and Kyzer Crochet drove to the basket for two. Owen Taylor drained a 3-pointer.

The War Eagles started off strong. Izaia Clark chalked up seven points in the first quarter. JD Paige drove to the basket for four points. Daron Taylor and Preston Bosley tacked on two points each. West Carroll led 15-7 at the end of the first quarter.

The Bulldogs added 15 points to the board during the second quarter. Kylan Borneman drained two 3-point shots. Taylor drove to the basket for two, then made two shots at the free throw line. Carter Cook and Byington drove to the basket for two points. Kade Sawyers tacked on one point at the foul line.

The War Eagles kept their lead during the second quarter adding another 15 points to their lead. Bosley drove to the basket for six points, then made one free throw for seven points in the quarter. Dawson White and Paige drained a 3-pointer each. Clark drove to the basket for two points. West Carroll held a 30-22 lead over Gleason at halftime.

After the break, the Bulldogs still trailed the Eagles. Byington added five points to the board during the third quarter. Sawyers and Cook drove to the basket for two points each. Borneman added on one point from the foul line.

The War Eagles added 13 points to their lead in the third quarter. Page added seven points to the board. Taylor had two shots in the paint for four points. White drove to the basket for two. After three quarters, the West Carroll War Eagles led the Gleason Bulldogs 43-32.

The Bulldogs tried to rally during the fourth quarter. Borneman led the rally with 11 points in the final quarter. Taylor drove to the basket for four points, then tacked on one point from the foul line. Sawyers drove to the basket for two points and drained a shot at the free-throw line. Byington had a shot in the paint for two points.

The War Eagles topped off their victory with a 19-point quarter. Paige had ten points in the final quarter. Page drained a 3-pointer and then drove to the basket for two points. The rest of his points came from the free-throw line. Bosley had two shots under the basket for four points. Jaden Taylor drove to the basket and drew a foul for a three-point play. Clark added on two points to the Eagle’s score. The West Carroll War Eagles defeated the Gleason Bulldogs 62-53.

The Bulldogs will host to the Dresden Lions Tuesday, Jan. 24. The War Eagles play host to the Clarksburg Rockets on Tuesday, Jan. 24.
