Lady Devils Dominate Lady Bulldogs

GLEASON (January 20) — The South Fulton Lady Devils almost doubled the Gleason Lady Bulldogs on Friday, Jan. 20. The Lady Devils dominated 70-36.

The Lady Devils were led to victory by Abbi McFarland and Maddie Gray. McFarland chalked up 29 points. Gray had 25 points for the night.

The Lady Devils started the game hot scoring 20 points in the first quarter. McFarland drained eight free throws in the starting quarter. Gray drove to the basket three times and made one free throw. Katie Barclay drained a 3-pointer for South Fulton. Aubree Gore drove to the basket for two points.

The Lady Bulldogs trailed by just seven points at the end of the first quarter. Autumn Mingle led the Bulldogs with 13 points for the night. Mingle chalked up five of her points in the first quarter. Ava Sawyers tacked on three points. Hannah Watson and Maya Lamb drove to the basket for two. Kaylee Tucker made one shot from the foul line. The Lady Bulldogs trailed 20-13 at the end of the first quarter.

The Lady Devils held the Lady Bulldogs to just three points during the second quarter. Sophie Wilson drained a shot from behind the arc.

The Lady Devils added 18 points to their lead in the second quarter. McFarland had 14 points in the quarter. She drained three 3-point shots, drove to the basket twice and made one shot from the line. Gore and Gray drove to the basket for two points each. South Fulton led 38-16 at halftime.

The Lady Bulldogs more than doubled their score in the third quarter. Mingle had two 3-point plays in the third quarter, then added another two with a layup. Jaeda Perry drove to the basket for two points. Sawyers and Tucker had two points each. Wilson made another 3-point shot.

The Lady Devils still held their ground and added another 18 points to their side of the board. Gray made three 3-point shots, then drove to the basket for two. She then made a shot from the foul line. Anna Gore drained a 3-point shot. McFarland drove to the basket for two points. Addysen Wilson tacked on one point from the foul line. The Lady Devils led 56-33 going into the final quarter.

The Lady Bulldogs had another three-point quarter. Madi Dean drove to the basket for two points. Hayden Beasley tacked on one point from the free-throw line.

The Lady Devils secured their win in the fourth quarter with 14 points. McFarland had five points in the final quarter. Gray drove to the basket for two then made two free throws. Jennifer Wallace made three shots from the line. Barclay drove to the basket for two points. The Lady Devils defeated the Lady Bulldogs 70-36.

The Gleason Lady Bulldogs will play host to the Dresden Lady Lions Tuesday, Jan. 24. Tipoff is slated for 6 p.m.

The South Fulton Devils slide past the Gleason Bulldogs by just one point. The Devils held the lead throughout the game and finished the game with a 68-67 lead.

The Devils started the game strong scoring 17 points. Conner Allen and Charles Mulcahy each had six points to start the game. Brady McFarland drove to the basket for two points then added one from the free throw line. Dane Cirkles drove to the basket for two points.

The Bulldog trailed the Devils by three points at the end of the first quarter. Gage Byington drove to the basket three times. Kylan Borneman drained a 3-pointer then added one point at the foul line. Kade Sawyers drove to the basket for two points. Owen Taylor made both of his shots at the line. The Devils led 17-14 going into the second quarter.

The Devils added 16 points to their lead in the second quarter. Allen chalked up five points. McFarland had a three-point play in the paint. Mulcahy drove to the basket for two points, then made one free throw. Logan Cromika made a 3-point shot. Connor O’Neal tacked on two points with a shot under the basket.

The Bulldogs were held to single-digit scoring in the second quarter. Tristan Chandler drove to the basket for two points. He then made one shot at the free-throw line. Carter Cook and Borneman each had two points. The Bulldogs trailed 33-21 at halftime.

After the break, the Bulldogs scored 19 points. Carter Cook and Taylor both had five points. Each one drove to the basket for two points, then made three shots from the free-throw line. Sawyers added five to the board as well with a 3-point shot and two free throws. Chandler drove to the basket for four points.

The Devils held their lead throughout the third quarter. McFarland had twelve points in the quarter. He drove to the basket for eight points, then made 4 out of 5 foul shots. Allen had a three-point play in the paint, then made a 3-point shot. South Fulton held a 51-40 lead over Gleason going into the final quarter.

The Bulldogs rallied in the final quarter. Borneman led with nine points from the 3-point arc. Sawyers drained two 3-pointers and drove to the basket for two more points. Kyzer Crochet drove to the basket for four points, then made two free throws. Taylor and Chandler tacked on two points with a shot under the basket. The Bulldogs had a total of 27 points in the final quarter.

The Devils were able to keep their lead due to free throw shots. Allen drove to the basket for four points. Cromika drained a 3-point shot. Ten of the Devil’s points came from the free-throw line. Allen, McFarland and Cromika drained three shots each at the line. Mulcahy added one point. South Fulton topped the Bulldogs by just one point. The Devils took home a 68-67 victory.

The Gleason Bulldogs will play host to the Dresden Lions Tuesday, Jan. 24.
