Mrs. Luvergene Adkisson was born December 4, 1924 in McLemoresville, Tennessee to the union of George and Ella Luter Bigham. She departed this peaceful life on Tuesday, April 2, 2024 at AHC McKenzie in McKenzie, Tennessee.

Funeral services were Tuesday, April 9, 2024, 1 p.m. at Reedy Creek Baptist Church in McLemoresville. Pastor Nelson Falls was the eulogist. Interment was at Reedy Creek Church Cemetery. Trinity Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Luvergene  was educated in the Carroll County schools and was a graduate of Webb High School.

Luvergene married the love of her life, James R. Adkisson, on December 1, 1946, and to this union, one child was born, George Robert Adkisson.

Luvergene worked for Milan Arsenal for many years until her retirement. After her retirement, she continued to work and was employed by H & R Block as a certified tax preparer. She prepared taxes for several people in the community, and it was said that she could “squeeze copper out of a penny.”

Luvergene was preceded in death by her parents, George and Ella Bigham, husband, James R. Adkisson, sisters, Pearl Ella, Minola, Dullie, Earline and Lafrances, brothers, Emanuel, George, Curtis, Robert, Sam Henry and Charlie. She was the last of twelve siblings.

Those left to cherish her memories and celebrate her life are her son, George (Letha) Adkisson, grandsons, Robert Marcel (Anjanette) Adkisson, Corey Adair Adkisson, granddaughter, Shania Iraldo-Adkisson who is a Jr. at Spelman College in Atlanta, Ga., devoted nieces, nephews, friends, Barbara Warren and Lettie Fuller other loving family and dear friends.
