Macedonia FCE November Meeting

Posted
The Macedonia Family and Community Education (FCE) group met Monday, November 7, at the Macedonia Community Center. President Ruth McElroy called the meeting to order and Martha Peters read the devotional reminding members to focus on God’s presence in the present time. There will always be difficulties in life, but the focus should be on God. Members read the “Homemakers Club Pledge” in unison and roll call was answered by sharing a tip for making a favorite holiday recipe healthier. Some suggestions were using low fat ingredients such as cream cheese or sour cream and using applesauce instead of oil.

Minutes of last month’s meeting were read by Sarah Brown. Gaye Coleman gave the treasurer’s report and reviewed the FCE Bake Sale proceeds from the October Citywide Yard Sale. The group discussed people to whom cards will be sent and also drew names for Christmas gifts. Club dues will be collected at January 2023 meeting. Officers were elected for the new year and are Martha Peters, president; Sarah Brown, vice president; Veronica Davis, secretary/reporter and Gaye Coleman, treasurer.

The educational program, Ways to Prevent Falls, was presented by Sarah Brown. She reviewed a home safety checklist with the members and distributed an informational sheet entitled ”Getting Up and Down Safely.” Ways to reduce the fear of falling and practical suggestions for fall prevention were discussed. Monthly food donations by the members for United Neighbors was acknowledged.

The next meeting will be at the home of Martha Peters on Monday, Dec 5, and members will enjoy a meal and exchange gifts.
