McKenzie’s Annual Christmas Parade

Posted
McKenzie’s Annual Mistletoe Christmas Parade was Saturday, December 3, 4 p.m. in the historic area of McKenzie. The parade began at McKenzie Middle School and ended downtown.

It was a beautiful day for a parade as spectators lined the streets from McKenzie Middle School through downtown to watch the parade.

This year was filled with extra excitement as the city celebrated a second state championship on Friday. Both McKenzie Lady Rebels, the state champions of Class 1A basketball and the McKenzie Rebels, the 2022 Class 1A football champions were honored during the parade.  Both teams displayed the trophies as they traveled the parade.

The parade was one of the highlights of the weekend, along with merchants providing Christmas items, the Farmers Market serving as the Mistletoe Market, Beta Sigma Phi hosting Breakfast with Santa, and the food trucks on the square.

The winners of this year’s parade were (1) Genia’s School of Dance “Dancing Thru the Snow” (2) McKenzie Headstart/ Early Headstart (3) The Waters of McKenzie, and Beating Hearts Help Center.

“We are overjoyed with the tremendous amount of support from the community to make the parade a success. We are looking forward to seeing everyone again next year,” said Jennifer Sims, parade coordinator.
