The McKenzie Lady Rebels are headed into the back half of their regular season schedule. They lost to Jackson Southside in a close contest 7-6 on Tuesday August 30. McKenzie had a 6-3 lead and it slipped away at the end for the loss. Allie Walker scored three goals and had an assist, Hannah Lee scored one goal, Ashley Burnine scored a goal, and Kassidy Brown also scored a goal. Goalie Katie Chesser recorded seven saves.
 
On Thursday, September 1, they traveled to Gibson County and picked up a 2-0 win. Walker scored a goal and Caley McCaslin scored a goal while Chesser had four saves.
 
McKenzie’s traveled to Adamsville on Thursday, September 8, and battled them to a scoreless tie. Katie Chesser recorded four saves in the game. A match against Huntingdon was postponed due to a lack of officials. It is not known if that game will be made up.
 
McKenzie’s most recent game was at South Fulton defeating the Lady Red Devils 4-0. Hannah Lee scored two goals and Phyllis White scored two goals with Allie Walker providing four assists. McKenzie gave up no shots on the goal.
 
The next games will be Tuesday, September 20 and Thursday, September 22 at home against Milan and Westview with both of them at home.
 
McKenzie Middle School Softball
Lady Rebel softball wrapped up their season last week with games at Henry County and home against West Carroll and Clarksburg.
 
They traveled to Henry County on Monday, September 12 falling on the short end of a 7-0 loss but bounced back on Tuesday, September 13 with a 15-0 win over West Carroll at home. Tuesday was 8th grade night with three eighth graders on the team. They included Abbi Ghyers, daughter of Angie and Nick Ghyers, Madelyn Morris, daughter of Amanda and Marty Morris, and Alyssa Redmond, daughter of Nicole and Jack Redmond. All three eighth graders were three-year members of the softball team.
 
The Lady Rebels hosted Clarksburg for a doubleheader on Thursday, September 15 in their season finale. McKenzie won the first game 13-2 and the second game 19-8 to end the season with an 8-9 record.
