McKenzie Golf Teams Playing Well

The McKenzie Golf team is already nearing the end of their regular season and preparing for district and region tournaments in September. Their latest match took place at Milan Golf and Country Club on Tuesday afternoon, August 30, against Milan and South Gibson. They had a home match scheduled for Monday, August 29, which was cancelled due to rain.
 
At Milan, the Lady Rebels defeated South Gibson shooting 103 while the Lady Hornets shot 114. Lady Rebel Charli Weatherford was Low Medalist shooting a 48. Meanwhile, McKenzie’s Rebels fired a 195 with South Gibson shooting a 185 and Milan won the boys’ match with a 158.
 
In earlier matches, McKenzie traveled to Magic Valley Golf Course on August 25 where the Rebels fell short firing a 140 against Camden and Henry County. On Tuesday, August 23, the Rebels and Lady Rebels played host to Milan and Huntingdon. Payton Ognibene was Low Medalist for the girls shooting a 46 while the Rebels defeated both the Bulldogs and Mustangs firing a 179 against Milan’s 209 and Huntingdon’s 217. Two Rebels tied for Low Medalist Nolan Renfro and Carter Kee shooting 40 each. The Lady Rebels hosted Gleason on Monday, August 22 with the Rebels having the afternoon off. They fired a 92 against Gleason’s 129. Payton Ognibene and Charli Weatherford tied for Low Medalist both firing 46 each.
 
McKenzie has only two more scheduled matches before tournaments begin. The first on September 8 at Stewart County and the last match on September 12 at Carroll Lake against Huntingdon and South Fulton.
