The McKenzie Rebels and Huntingdon Mustangs won their third round games last Friday to advance to the state football semifinals in Class 1A and Class 2A respectively.

The McKenzie Rebels and Huntingdon Mustangs won their third round games last Friday to advance to the state football semifinals in Class 1A and Class 2A respectively.
 
McKenzie defeated Fayetteville 20-18 on a last second field goal by Zach Aird. This is the second win over Fayetteville having won 14-8 at Fayetteville in 2021 in the playoffs. The Rebels (13-0) will travel to Memphis and face Memphis Arts and Sciences School (MASE) (13-0) at Memphis Melrose. There will be no fan bus making this trip according to McKenzie High School Principal Kelly Spivey.
 
Attendees will be screened using a walk-through metal detector and wand. Only clear bags are allowed. The maximum size is 12 inches x 6 inches. The only additional bag allowed are small clutches no larger than 4.5 inches x 6.5 inches that fit in a hand. The contents of those bags will be hand inspected. All bags will be checked. Other prohibited items include any outside food or drink. Once a participant/attendee exits the event, re-entry is not allowed. Welcome to Memphis.
 
Huntingdon (11-2) defeated Union City for the second time this season 14-3 to advance to the Class 2A Semifinals where they will host Riverside (11-2) for the second time this year. The Mustangs won 33-7 the first time over the Panthers while defeating Union City 27-20 on October 28.
