PARIS — The McKenzie Middle School Rebels had a successful first road trip to Henry County, Thursday, August 18, defeating Henry County Middle 34-8.
The Rebels took their opening drive scoring in 9 plays capped by a 9-yard run by Matteo Campbell with the 2-point conversion attempt no good for a 6-0 lead. They struck again on their second offensive possession with a 55-yard touchdown pass from Cole Brown to Avery Brown. The two Browns connected again on a 2-point conversion pass for a 14-0 lead.
The Rebels added to the score shortly before halftime with the two Browns connecting on a 50-yard touchdown strike. The 2-point conversion was no good leaving the score 20-0.
On the first Rebel possession of the third quarter, Cole Brown took it 11 yards for a score and also completed a 2-point conversion run to extend the McKenzie lead to 28-0. The Rebels’ final score came in the fourth quarter with Cole Brown scoring again this time on a 21-yard touchdown run. The 2-point conversion was no good as McKenzie increased the lead to 34-0.
Henry County avoided a shutout with a 10-yard touchdown run with under two minutes to play and converted the 2 points for a 34-8 final score. The MMS Rebels will be off this week and then travel to West Carroll on Thursday, September 1.
