McKenzie Wins Two Over Big Sandy

McKENZIE (January 6) — McKenzie Lady Rebels and Rebels won two over Big Sandy in district contests.
 
McKenzie Lady Rebels (9-5 overall, 1-0 district) claimed a 62-35 win over the visiting Big Sandy Lady Red Devils. McKenzie’s younger players played much of the second half and gained valuable experience. The Lady Rebels were led Kylie Reynolds with 14 including four 3-pointers, followed by Sophie Pate with 11, including three 3-pointers, MiKaela Reynolds with 10, Sarah Luci with 9, Katie Chesser with two 3-pointers, Molly French with 5, including a 3-pointer, Ally Gibson with 4, Briley Auvenshine with 2, and Gracie Aird with 1. 
 
McKenzie scoring was 33, 9, 7, and 14 in the respective quarters.
 
Big Sandy (2-13 overall, 0-1 district) scored 8, 5, 9, and 13 in the respective quarters. The team was led by Bailey Berry with 11, Kaylee Stockdale with 6, Ella Rogers and Lauren Flowers with 5 each, Kaylyn Jackson with 4, and MaKayla Belyew and Serenity Guin with 2 each.
 
McKenzie Rebels (7-2 overall, 1-0 district) defeated Big Sandy 82-50. Big Sandy claimed a first quarter lead with a score of 11 to 8 until the Rebels found their rhythm in the second quarter and easily led the remainder of the contest. 
 
McKenzie scored 8, 23, 23, and 28 in the respective quarters for a total of 82. The team was led by Bryson Steele with 19, followed by Tate Surber with 16 including two 3-pointers, Zay Webber with 15 including one 3-pointer,  Marquez Taylor with 10, Stafford Roditis with 10, including two 3-pointers, Drew Chappell with 6, Eli Vinson with 4, and Zach Aird with 2.
 
Big Sandy scored 11, 13, 18, and 8 in the respective quarters. Cole Pierpoint scored 16, Seth Green with 16, including four 3-pointers, Braxton Wright with 5, including one 3-pointer, Blake Sims and Keegan Staggs with 4 each, Garrett Cagle with 3, and an unlisted player with 2.
