DUI, Evading Arrest — Austin Bradley Cantrell, 27, Jeanette Circle, McKenzie was charged with DUI, Reckless Endangerment and Evading Arrest after he was stopped on December 14.
 
Officer Austin Jones reported he was traveling south on U.S. 79 when he witnessed an ambulance in front of the patrol car veer to the right to avoid an oncoming vehicle. Officer Jones also had to take evasive action. Officer Jones turned around and gave pursuit of a Ford Explorer driven by Cantrell.  The officer saw an oncoming vehicle veer right to avoid contact with Cantrell’s vehicle. The officer observed Cantrell come to an abrupt stop at the intersection of Highland and Cherrywood Road. The officer approached the vehicle and asked the driver, Cantrell, to turn off the vehicle and exit. 
 
Cantrell was taken into custody. Officer Beck assisted at the scene. 
 
DUI — James L. Smith, 71, Mossy Oak Trail, Jackson, was arrested for DUI on December 12 after a traffic stop.
 
According to a report by Trenton Ruddy, MPD had a call about a reckless driver on Highland Drive. Officer Ruddy observed the driver steer outside of his travel lane and initiated a stop.
 
After a field sobriety test, Smith was arrested for DUI and transported to Carroll County Jail.
 
Driving on Revoked License — Zareya Venae Webber, 22, Park Cove, McKenzie, was charged with Driving While License Suspended, Expired Registration, and Violation of Financial Responsibility after a traffic stop on December 13. 
 
Officer Trenton Ruddy stopped the vehicle and was alerted by MPD dispatch that Webber’s license was revoked for accumulated driving offenses. Webber was cited into court.
 
Driving While Revoked — Donald R. Shell, 41, North Street, Gleason was charged with Driving While Revoked - First Offense, Violation of the Light Law because of an inoperable headlight, and Violation of Financial Responsibility after a traffic stop on December 18.
 
Officer Darren Davis initiated the stop after witnessing a malfunctioning headlight. A check with MPD dispatch revealed the driver’s license was revoked. He was cited into General Sessions Court.
 
Drug Paraphernalia, Driving Unregistered Vehicle — Two persons were charged in a single traffic stop on December 18.
 
Officer Trenton Ruddy cited Clinton Dale Mann, 38, Evergreen Street, Dresden and Barbara Pauline Adkins, 38, McKenzie,  after a traffic stop on a Suburban with no license plate. 
 
When the driver, Clinton Mann stepped out of the vehicle, a marijuana pipe fell on the ground creating a probable cause search. A half-empty bottle of American Honey was discovered in the console.
 
Mann was cited for Open Container, Violation of Financial Responsibility, Unregistered Vehicle and Drug Paraphernalia.
 
Adkins was cited for Drug Paraphernalia. Both were given 10 days to report to the Carroll County Jail for booking.
 
Driving on Suspended License — Brittany Renee Wortham, 26, Highway 45, Sharon was charged with Driving on a Suspended License - third offense.
 
Officer Tanner Jackson responded to a single vehicle crash on State Route 22. Wortham, the driver, said a deer ran in front of her car and she struck it.
 
A check with the MPD dispatcher, it was learned Wortham’s license was suspended. She was cited into court and her vehicle was towed to a residence on Wortham Loop, Huntingdon.
 
Criminal Trespass — Maurice L. Lawrence, 28, McKenzie, a homeless man, was charged with Criminal Trespass after he entered the Maverick Convenience Store on December 6.
Lawrence had a court order that banned him from sister-owned Maverick and Little General stores.  Lawrence had left the store before officers arrived. When he was located, he was transported to Carroll County Jail on the charge.
