Trespassing, Assaulting First Responder — Shaquise Taleasha Long, 30, Walnut Circle, McKenzie was charged with Aggravated Criminal Trespassing, Resisting Arrest, and Assault of a First Responder on February 24.
Officer Kyle Beauchamp received a dispatch of a domestic incident on Walnut Circle at the home of Long’s child’s father. Long entered the home screaming and slamming doors before exiting and going to her nearby home on Walnut Circle.
Officers went to the location of the incident, gathered information, and then went to Long’s home. Officer Jeremiah Brooks went to Long’s home, where he heard screaming. Brooks collected the same information about the prior incident as the victim reported.
The incident occurred at the change of shifts of the officers, so Officer Bryan Batchelder, Sergeant Cody Coleman, Officer Darren Davis and Officer Shy’ann Williams were all on the scene. As Long was handcuffed and placed in the patrol car, she kicked the officer with both feet - forcing him against the car door. She continued to kick the patrol car door once it was closed. As officers pulled her away from the door, she attempted to bite the officers.
Driving on Suspended License — Amber Lynn Atkins, 35, Belair Drive, Greenfield, was charged with Driving on Suspended License, Failure to Change Address, and Display of Registration Plates on February 21.
Sergeant Cody Coleman initiated a stop shortly after midnight because of a violation of display of license plate. That stop revealed Atkins’ license was suspended because of a previous driving conviction and she had not changed the address on her license as required by law. She was cited into court.
Driving on Suspended License, Speeding — Carla Gonzalez, 29, Mockingbird Avenue, Henry, was charged with Speeding, Driving on a Suspended License, and Violation of Financial Responsibility after a traffic stop for speeding on February 21.
Officer Darren Davis stopped the speeding vehicle and discovered the suspended license and the failure to have proper liability insurance.
Simple Possession — Anthony Allen Copeland, 48, Blooming Grove Road, McKenzie, was charged with Simple Possession/Casual Exchange after a traffic stop on February 25.
Officer Darren Davis stopped a vehicle in which Anthony Copeland was the passenger. After a consent to search, Officer Davis discovered eight grams of a green leafy substance believed to be marijuana. Copeland was cited into court.
The driver, Dana Copeland, was cited for Failure to Maintain Lane, Expired Registration, and Financial Responsibility.
Joyriding — Amy Lynn Guentz, 36, Bethel Court, McKenzie was charged with Joyriding after an incident on February 25.
Sergeant Cody Coleman said he ran across Anthony Marr at 3:35 a.m. on Magnolia Avenue. Marr was walking and looking for his vehicle. His phone was also taken along with the car. He rode in the patrol car in search of the car. When they returned to Marr’s home, Guentz was there and the car was still warm. Guentz claimed Marr granted her permission to take the car. Marr filed a sworn statement indicating otherwise. She was arrested and transported to Carroll County Jail.
Public Intoxication — Timothy L. Johnson, 37, Forrest Avenue, McKenzie was charged with Public Intoxication on February 20.
Sergeant Cody Coleman charged Johnson after witnessing Johnson pulling on the locked door of United Neighbors at 10:42 p.m. Sergeant Coleman smelled alcohol and arrested Johnson for his own safety. He was transported to Carroll County Jail.
