Fugitive From Justice — Joshua French, 39, Holladay, Tenn. was arrested and charged seven charges including Driving on a Revoked, Light Law Violation, Violation of Financial Responsibility, Driving an Unregistered Vehicle, Simple Possession -Schedule VI, Failure to Appear in a Missouri Court, Violation of Probation out of Missouri.

Officer Darren Davis stopped French’s vehicle on May 17 for a light law violation. He soon learned of the revoked status and the outstanding warrants for his arrest from Missouri dating back to the year 2021. A search of the vehicle resulted in marijuana, rolling papers and THC vape. French was transported to Carroll County Jail.

Driving on Suspended License, Other Offenses — Michael A. Smith, 26, Allen Street, McKenzie, was arrested after his vehicle was stopped on May 13 for illegal window tint.

Officer Dustin McClure stopped the vehicle and determined Smith’s license was suspended and he had two prior Driving While Suspended cases. The window tested too dark. He also had an outstanding warrant from Milan for Violation of Probation. Smith was transported to Carroll County Jail.

Child Unattended — A three-year-old child was located in the road on Walnut Circle. Police located the mother, who worked nights and was asleep when the child opened the door and departed the home unaccompanied.  

Officer Bryan Batchelder was dispatched to Walnut Circle, found the mother, and spoke with her. The matter was reported to the Department of Children’s Services. No charges were filed.

Domestic Assault — Kendrick D. Wharton, 34, Park Cove, McKenzie, was charged with Domestic Assault on May 14.

Officer Bryan Batchelder responded to a call at Park Cove concerning Domestic Assault. After interviewing the female victim, a warrant was issued for Wharton’s arrest.

Domestic Assault, Vandalism — Keon Williams, 31, Everett Street, McKenzie, was charged with Domestic Assault and Vandalism on May 15.

Assistant Chief Trey Boucher filed a report that stated Williams grabbed the female victim by the neck and forced her phone from her hand and then threw it to the ground. A warrant was issued for Williams’ arrest.

Domestic Assault, Vandalism — A 17-year-old juvenile was issued juvenile warrants for Domestic Assault, Resisting Arrest, Vandalism and Disorderly Conduct after an incident at his home on May 18.

Officer Darren Davis reported the incident where the juvenile punched the television and broke photo frames  in the house in a fit of rage. His sister was also acting irrationally. MPD officers had to take control of the situation; however, the male attempted to assault one of the officers. The juvenile male was restrained. EMS was called to check the injuries on the juvenile’s hand where the vandalism he caused in the house.

Driving on Suspended License —Lawrence S. Norman, 42, Leona Street, Milan, was charged with Driving on a Suspended License and Light Law Violation on May 17.

Officer Darren Davis stopped Norman’s vehicle for a light law violation and learned Norman’s license was suspended. He was cited into court for the two charges.

Theft of Services — Old West Steakhouse reported a party of seven failed to pay for their meal and left in a red minivan on May 18.

Officer Dustin McClure filed the report after the restaurant owner claimed the seven left in a minivan with a specific license number. The vehicle was stopped in Obion County and the occupants produced their receipt for their meals. The van only had two seats with the remainder of the seats folded down. The van’s occupants indicated they saw a group of people in the restaurant.

Theft — A 2001 Ford Taurus was reported stolen on May 18. Raymond Boyd of Spruce Street said he gave a subject permission to drive it to McDonald’s but he never returned it and is believed to be headed to Alabama.

Officer Bryan Batchelder filed the report. No charges were listed.

Domestic Assault — Charles Tillman, 35, Oaklawn Drive, McKenzie was charged with Domestic Assault on May 19.

Officer Darren Davis filed a report indicating Tillman was with his girlfriend when he became angry over an incident. He started to punch the console and side window. She exited the vehicle when it stopped at a residence. When he left, his vehicle struck a stop sign. Tillman was arrested for Domestic Assault for placing the victim in fear for her safety and for Vandalism. He was transported to Carroll County Jail.

Public Intoxication — Eric S. Permenter, 34, Courtland Street, Jackson, was charged with Public Intoxication on May 20.

Officer Dustin McClure responded to Casey’s General Store, where a man was asleep on the front sidewalk. MPD administered a field sobriety test and determined McClure was intoxicated.  He was transported to Carroll County Jail.
