DUI — Hunter Wayne Uselton, 23, Hamilton Street, McKenzie was charged with DUI-First Offense, Vandalism, and Leaving the Scene of An Accident on August 24.
Officer Darren Davis was dispatched to Save-A-Lot parking lot, where a driver hit a utility pole and left the scene. Officer Davis found the damaged GMC pickup on Forrest Avenue near Allen Street. Mr. Uselton was walking along the street to retrieve the tire that came off the truck.
Uselton admitted drinking a six-pack of beer plus two steel reserves.
He was transported to Baptist Hospital for blood samples and later to Carroll County Jail.
DUI — Betsy L. Davis, 50, Highway 22, McKenzie, was charged with DUI #2 and Violation of Implied Consent on August 20.
Officer Steven Scott stopped Davis’ vehicle for a violation of display of plate. The officer determined the driver might be under the influence and administered field sobriety tests. She was arrested on the charge.
DUI — Michael W. Rayburn, 54, Childs Street, McKenzie, was charged with DUI and Speeding on August 23.
Officer Dustin McClure stopped Rayburn for driving without headlights at 9:49 p.m. He was traveling 55 in a 45 mile-per-hour zone.
During the stop, Officer McClure observed empty alcoholic beverage containers in the vehicle. A field sobriety test was administered, and Rayburn was arrested.
Driving on a Suspended License — Kimberly Sue Hamilton, 60, Walnut Street, Greenfield was charged with Driving on a Suspended License and Following Too Closely on August 19.
Officer Darren Davis discovered Hamilton’s license was suspended on May 24 in Weakley County. She was cited to Carroll County Jail for proper booking.
Gambling — Three subjects are charged with Gambling and Resisting Arrest charges after an incident on August 19.
Officer Darren Davis, assisted by Officer Cunningham, Officer McClure, and Officer Henderson were involved in the arrest of Robert Devante Taylor, 30, Walnut Avenue, McKenzie. Two others, Keon J. Williams, 32, Fields Street, McKenzie, and Demarcus Robinson, 34, Walnut Circle, McKenzie, fled the scene when officers knocked on the door. Officers McClure and Cunningham unsuccessfully pursued the two on foot. Taylor was apprehended during a foot chase. Taylor had $5,280 balled up in his hands. The money was seized as evidence.
Robinson will be charged with gambling and Williams is to be charged with gambling and resist, stop or halt.
Two small children were in the home at the time. The incident was referred to the Department of Child Services.
Carolina Squat Law — Lamarion Mikell Turner, 19, Alsup Dr., Springfield, was charged with violation of the new state Carolina Squat Law on his truck, Violation of the Muffler Law, and Window Tint Law on August 20.
Officer Dustin McClure stopped the F150 truck because it was loud and excessive. Tennessee’s new law prohibits vehicles from having excessive front-end height as compared to their rear end height. Turner was cited into court.
Theft — A McKenzie woman reported the theft of her clothes from Wyatt Coin Laundry on August 24 around 2:14 a.m. The victim had photos of the suspect.
