UNION CITY (May 27) — Northwest Tennessee Tourism hosted its first Legislative Breakfast at Discovery Park in Union City on May 27.

Kasey Muench, new executive director, said she was excited to see so many county and city leaders from the nine-county region to attend.

Travis McLeese, chairman of the Northwest Tennessee Tourism, thanked everyone for attending.

Special guests were State Senator John Stevens, State Senator Ed Jackson, State Representative Tandy Darby, State Representative Rusty Grills, and State Representative Chris Hurt.

The board members of the Northwest Tennessee Tourism Board of Directors were pleased that Mark Ezell, Tennessee Commissioner of Tourism and Marty Marbry, West Tennessee Division Manager, Department of Tourism.

The legislators answered questions from the audience and gave some lighthearted discussion about themselves.

Senator Jackson said the much anticipated Gray Wolf Lodge is scheduled for groundbreaking in the year 2024. He also noted a new state park in Madison County will soon be attracting visitors.

Commissioner Ezell announced Tennessee is ranked #11 in the United States in attracting tourist. Visitors spent $27 billion in Tennessee last year, said the commissioner. Ezell said the Department of Tourism is supporting local communities in attracting visitors. Tennessee is the fastest growing visitor state over the past five years.

Muench said the members of the Northwest Tennessee Tourism are motivated and working behind the scenes.

Muench recently visited the region’s nine counties and sought feedback from local businesses, and community leaders to help develop the program’s brand direction. The result is a new logo and marketing strategy that reflects the region’s unique character and its many attractions.

“Northwest Tennessee is unlike any region in the state. The people I have met and stories I have heard have made me realize what a privilege it is to call Northwest Tennessee home. We are ready to share our region with others.

Northwest Tennessee Tourism is committed to working to promote tourism in the region by revamping its web and community presence, expanding marketing reach, and creating necessary promotional pieces like an NWTN Visitor’s Guide. Furthermore, the organization will strive to connect residents and businesses and build a culture of working together to better Northwest Tennessee.
