Peggy Joyce Segraves Zelno,

Posted
Peggy Joyce Segraves Zelno, of Boston, Massachusetts, died on Thursday, February 2 surrounded by her loving children after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born and raised in McKenzie, Tenn., where she made lifelong friendships. She was a 1971 graduate of McKenzie High School and attended Bethel College before earning a degree from the University of Nevada Reno.

Her life’s greatest passion was being a loving mom and Granny. She is survived by her children, Benjamin Brian Zelno, Tara Zelno, and Stacey Zelno; grandchildren and jewels of her life, Molly Rae Zelno and Deven Patrick Patel; sisters, Sherry (Lyman) Vancil, Judy (Milton) Hendrickson; sister-in-law, Carol Segraves; and many beloved nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her brother, Gary Segraves; mother, Lorene Segraves; and father, Lester Segraves.

She embraced everyone she met. Her joy, gratitude, and love for life were infectious. Over the course of her life, she was a teacher, flight attendant, and adventurer, embracing the out-of-doors and world travel in equal turn. In retirement, she volunteered at Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital, providing Reiki healing, loving kindness to anyone in need, and magical comfort to the most fragile infants. She believed deeply in humanity and our ability to love one another. She was a voracious reader and a lifelong student.

The family requests that those who wish to send flowers instead donate in her name to St. Jude’s Children's Hospital as she would have wished.
