The Rebels are 21-5 overall this season and are making their second consecutive state appearance after their 2022 run. McKenzie’s state title run was cut short by Peabody High School in a quarterfinal 63-48 loss in 2022. The Rebels are looking to score their first state title this season.

The Rebels will take on the University High School Buccaneers on Wednesday, March 15. This game will be a rematch of the quarterfinals from the 2019 tournament. The Rebels defeated the Buccaneers 68-49 knocking the Buccaneers out of the tournament.

University is 22-12 this season. The Buccaneers last state appearance was during the 2019 tournament where they were stopped in their tracks by the Rebels. The Buccaneers were District 1 and Region 1 Champions going undefeated through the tournaments. University defeated Greenback 71-52 during the sectional round to punch their ticket to state.
