Rebels Claim Four Wins in Christmas Tourney

STEWART COUNTY — McKenzie Lady Rebels and McKenzie Rebels participated in the Stewart County Invitational over Christmas break and claimed victories over Clarksville High and Montgomery Central.
 
On Thursday, the Lady Rebels staged a come-from-behind victory with a 76-73 victory over Clarksville High.
 
A fourth quarter technical on Clarksville gave the edge to the Lady Rebels as Mikaela Reynolds sank the penalty points from the foul line and helped overcome a 60-47 third quarter deficit. The Lady Rebels put up 29 points in the final quarter to earn the win.
 
The Lady Rebels scored 17, 16, 14 and 29 points in the respective quarters. Mikaela and sister, Kylie Reynolds each had 28 points, Katie Chesser had 15, and Briley Auvenshine had 5.
 
Clarksville scored 14, 19, 27 and 13 in the respective quarters. Imari Berry scored 28 points, followed by Brystal Calhoun with 15, Malon Smith with 14, Ella Muiznieks with 8, Keira Garinger with 6, and Shakia Vance and Ally Howard each with 1.
 
On Friday, the Lady Rebels took an easy win over Montgomery Central High School with a 68-21 victory.
 
McKenzie scored 30, 11, 13, 14 in the respective quarters for 68 total points. Mikaela Reynolds scored 17, followed by sister, Kylie Reynolds with 14, Sophie Pate had 11, Briley Auvenshine had 8, Katie Chesser with 5, Molly French had 3, Sarah Luci had 2, and Gracie Aird had 1.
 
Montgomery Central scored 3, 10, 6, and 2 in the quarters. The team was led by Sarah Bankhorn with 10, Sidney Batson with 8, Katarina Vidovic with 2 and Zakiya Ligon with 1 for a total of 21.
 
Rebels vs Clarksville High
 
Thursday — McKenzie Rebels claimed a 61-48 victory over Clarksville High in the Stewart County Invitational. The Rebels scored 17, 15, 17, and 12 for 61 total points. Marquez Taylor scored 30, followed by Bryson Steele with 11, Stafford Roditis with 6, Zach Aird with 6, Tate Surber with 4, Zay Webber with 2 and Hayden Garrett with 2.
 
Clarksville scored 6, 12, 9, and 21 in the quarters for a total 48 points. Sawyer Wallace led the team with 13, followed by Garrett Maria with 12, Hayden Wallace with 11, and Jacob Morgan and Dallas Dennis with 6 each.
 
Friday, the Rebels had an easy 65-37 victory over Montgomery Central. The Rebels scored 19, 11, 23, 12 in the respective quarters. Marquez Taylor and Tate Surber led scoring with 17 each, followed by Zach Aird with 10, Bryson Steele with 6, Hayden Garrett with 5, Zay Webber with 4, and Stafford and Eli Vinson each with 3.
 
Montgomery Central scored 5, 6, 14, and 12 in the respective quarters for a total of 37 points. The team was led by Chris Fox with 16, Marquice Crutcher with 7, BJ McWhorter with 6, Eric Owen with 6, and Malix Peterson with 2.
 
McKenzie Lady Rebels and Rebels traveled to Jackson Southside Tuesday, January 3 for non-region contests.
