McKenzie Rotary Hears from County Officials

Posted

McKENZIE — Members of the Rotary Club of McKenzie heard updates from Carroll County Mayor Joseph Butler and Carroll County Circuit Court Clerk Sarah Bradberry in recent weeks.

Mayor Butler gave a report on the growth of the county, the recent purchase of the 1000-Acre Recreation Lake by the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency, recent long-term debt payoffs, and the future of the county with expected major residential and industrial growth, in part, because of the Ford Blue Oval project in west Tennessee.

Butler said the county retired two of three of its long-term debts, leaving only the debt of the Carroll County Jail. The county is upgrading equipment for its rural fire departments, installing a new roof on the courthouse, and pressure washing the exterior of the courthouse.

Carroll County Circuit Court Clerk Sarah Bradberry spoke to the club about her duties as the clerk, the three courts in which her office serves, and several aspects of the court. She and her deputy clerks work with the Circuit Court, General Sessions Court, and Juvenile Court. They are responsible for many aspects of the court, including preparing the docket, keeping records of proceedings, keeping up with subpoenas, jury summons, and court fees and payments. There are many other duties of the clerk’s office. Bradberry is in her fifth year as the elected clerk. She works with General Sessions and Juvenile Judge Michael King and Circuit Judges Brent Bradberry and Bruce Griffey. Bradberry is pictured with Kathy Ham, president of McKenzie Rotary Club.

McKenzie Rotary meets each Tuesday noon at McKenzie Station in downtown McKenzie.
