Rotary Hears About Farming, Banking

McKENZIE (May 2023) — The Rotary Club of McKenzie recently heard about farming from Tosh Farms and banking from Joe Neumair of McKenzie Banking Company.
Jonathan Tosh and Dustin McClure spoke about Tosh Farms, based in Henry. Tosh is the largest swine operation in Tennessee and the 26th largest in the nation.
The company has three divisions - trucking, farming, and pork production. It has 430,000 pigs in various production levels, and sells and transports 1 million pigs annually to Swift, a production house in Louisville.
Tosh is a family-owned business.

Joe Neumair of McKenzie Banking Company spoke to his fellow Rotarians about the banking industry. Neumair said the local area banks are very stable, unlike the three megabanks that failed in the U.S. recently. All three of those banks were acquired by other banks.
He cautioned Rotarians to ensure they are cautious if exceeding the $250,000 FDIC insurance limit on single accounts.
He noted the FED had raised interest rates from .25 percent in March 2020 to 5.25 percent in May 2023. The FED is attempting to reduce inflation through higher interest rates.
