McKenzie Rotary Hears from Police Chief, Assistant

Posted
McKenzie Police Chief Ryan White and Assistant Chief Trey Boucher were the featured speakers at the weekly meeting of the Rotary Club of McKenzie on November 1.

Newly appointed Chief White said the McKenzie Police Department has hired several new officers and lacks four to be back to the full force of 17.  He also said the department has purchased new or slightly used patrol vehicles to be placed in service soon.

The two police administrators each have more than 20 years with the department. Both started as patrolmen and worked their way through the ranks.

M.P.D. has 24-hour, in-house dispatching for the police, fire, and other emergency services.

The administrators said they are increasing their community focus with officers visiting schools, and working with the Carroll County Sheriff’s Department on safety plans for the schools. The officers are also more visible at community events and at ballgames.

Drugs and gangs are everywhere, said the chief. He said the department is working to reduce those problems.

McKenzie Rotary meets each Tuesday noon at McKenzie Station Bar and Grill. The club’s annual live auction is Saturday, November 18 at McKenzie Farmers Market.
