McKenzie School Board Meets June 13, 15

Justin Barden will assume his new role as McKenzie’s director of schools at the McKenzie Special School District Board of Education June meetings.

The board meets June 13 for a budget workshop to discuss the budget for the 2023-2024 school year.

June 15 is the month’s regular session, where the board will consider several items for approval, hear from Karlene Ellis-Brown, who requests to add girls’ soccer to the middle school, and hear from Brianna Pugh as she addresses the Board concerning bullying.

Items considered for approval are budget amendments to the district’s school funds, 2023-2024 School District Property Tax Rates, the 2023-2024 McKenzie Special School District Budget, the FY Consolidated Application (including several grants), General Fund Expense Accounts for each school, the McKenzie FFA to attend the National Convention October 31-November 3, 2023, and Mayor Ryan Griffin and Chief Ryan White to discuss the City of McKenzie providing School Resource Officers. The board will also consider for approval Director Justin Barden as the school district’s fiscal agent.

The McKenzie Special School District Board of Education meets at the McKenzie Board of Education Office at 114 Bell Ave., McKenzie.
