Summer Reading at McKenzie Memorial Library

McKENZIE — McKenzie Memorial Library, Broadway Street, in McKenzie is hosting its Summer Reading Program.

Ceil Pomphrey, librarian, said the library is open Monday to Friday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and on Saturdays, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Use of the library is free. Obtaining a library card to check out book is also free, said Ms. Pomphrey. Persons under the age of 14 must obtain parental permission to get a library card.

The next summer event is Thursday, May 30, with Fear Factor, an all-day event at the Library.

June starts with Once Upon a Slime, an event with slime. That is Saturday, June 1, 11:30 a.m.

Monday, June 3 is Story Hour at 3:30 p.m. for the children.

Thursday, June 6 is Escape the Labyrinth — all-day event geared for students in middle school.

Saturday, June 8 is Threads of Friendship at 11:30 a.m. for the making of bracelets.

Monday, June 10 is Story Hour at 3:30 p.m.

Tuesday, June 11 is Blackout Poetry, an all-day event geared toward adults.

Friday, June 14 is Solar Power at 2 p.m. It is using shaving cream and food clothing to create art.

Saturday, June 15 is Storybook Stroll, 10 a.m. at Discovery Park of America at Union City. Come by to get tickets prior to Saturday since the library is closed on June 15.

Monday, June 17 is Story Hour, 3:30 p.m.

Thursday, June 20 is Animal Hospital with children urged to bring stuffed animals so the library can provide prescriptions to the animals.

Saturday, June 22 is Seize the Stars, 11:30 a.m. The library will make constellation viewers from empty toilet paper cores.

Monday, June 24, 3:30 a.m. is Story Hour for the children.

Tuesday, June 25, 11:30 a.m. is Rockin’ and Roving, cardboard Mars rovers geared toward the teenagers.

Friday, June 28 is Vulcan’s Volcanology at 1 p.m. It making miniature volcanoes.
