Tennessee’s Clay Hill Dirt Track to Host GN SF, TWD, LT UNL June 4-5

Posted

Columbus, Ohio --- The National Tractor Pullers Association and Clayhill, LLC of Atwood, Tennessee have reached an agreement to present the Clay Hill NTPA Summer Sizzler, an all-new Association-sanctioned Grand National event in 2021. Tentative dates for the two-session pull are Friday and Saturday, June 4-5. Tickets are on sale now at ShopNTPA.com/tickets

In NTPA Championship Pulling, vehicles drag a 20-ton weight transfer sled along a straight, dirt track as the sled's resistance increases. Within a class of similar vehicles, the puller who achieves the greatest distance is victorious. At events across the United States, elite competitors campaign their specialized machines---which resemble farm tractors, trucks, and dragsters---for chances at purse money and precious points toward end-of-season championships.

The 2021 season will be the NTPA's 52nd as the world's original and number-one sanctioning organization for premier-level truck and tractor pulling events. Fierce, fair pulling competition and a family-friendly, patriotic atmosphere are hallmarks of NTPA Championship Pulling events. If you haven't experienced the rumbles, roars, and rivalries of the heaviest sport on wheels, why not give it a try in Atwood?

Classes to appear each night at the Summer Sizzler are Grand National Super Farm Tractors, Two-Wheel-Drive Trucks, and twin-engine Light Unlimited Modifieds.

Clay Hill is a 3/8-mile dirt/clay oval along Rimmer Road. Current management assumed control of the facility in 2016 and purchased it outright in 2020. Since then, "The Track Not for the Weak" has hosted monthly racing on Saturday nights, country concerts, and monster truck shows in its grandstands, but the June 2021 Clay Hill NTPA Summer Sizzler will represent the venue's first pulling event.

“This was a perfect match with all involved,” said track owner Phil Colwell of the pairing with NTPA. "It's a great fit to have the best in the tractor pulling world come to Atwood."

“Right from the beginning, the Clayhill group and our office had positive discussions and clear expectations for a high-caliber pulling event,” echoed Gregg Randall, the Association’s Executive Director. “We're honored to be asked to help put on the first sanctioned pull at this venue.”

Located along the western edge of the Volunteer State, the town of Atwood is home to around 1,000 residents. Memphis lies 100 miles to the southwest and Nashville 125 miles to the northeast of the surrounding Carroll County, which also hosts the Dixie Carter Performing Arts and Enrichment Center as well as the county's Shooting Sports Park.
