From the Aug 4, 2020 e-Edition
Vicki Hodge Hoover of Paris, Tennessee is the Republican nominee for Chancellor in the 24th Judicial District. She was selected by the Republican Party Caucus in November from a field of candidates. Hoover has practiced law in the 24th judicial district as well as other jurisdictions for over 28 years.
Hoover is a 5th generation Tennessean, grew up in Savannah, Tennessee, and graduated from Hardin County High School. She earned her Bachelor of Business Administration from Memphis State University and her Doctor of Jurisprudence from the Nashville School of Law. She is licensed to practice law in all courts in Tennessee.
After college Vicki’s first job was in the corporate office at Hospital Corporation of America where she was trained in management. She went on to work as a personnel director and management consultant with Williamson County Medical Center. She is a nationally recognized management seminar leader and speaker, giving seminars all over the United States in managing people, productivity improvement, communication, labor law, and other management-related areas. She later accepted a position with Domino’s Pizza where she was in charge of the Human Resources Department in the eleven state Southern Region. Hoover is known in her profession as a skilled negotiator and was often recognized for her successful abilities to resolve high-conflict situations.
After graduation from law school, she settled in Henry County, and married Mike Ainley and has enjoyed a successful practice in all of the 24th Judicial District’s courts. She and her husband, Mike, founded the law firm of Ainley, Hoover & Hoover 28 years ago. Vicki’s daughter, Angela Hoover, is a law partner in the firm and manages the firm’s law office in Franklin, Tenn.
Vicki’s business and legal experience set her apart from any other candidate. Not only is she knowledgeable of the law, but she has experience in many other areas.
She has served as a part-time Municipal Judge in Henry for 22 years and Big Sandy for 10 years. She is also a trained Civil, Family Law and Domestic Violence Mediator. Vicki is also active in the community. She is a life-long member of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church. She grew up at the First Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Savannah. Vicki is currently a member, and former Elder, of the First Cumberland Presbyterian Church in McKenzie. She also proudly sits on the Bethel University Board of Trustees. She has been recognized by the Tennessee Republican Party as a “Woman of Distinction”.
The Chancellor is a judge who hears divorces, child custody cases, adoptions, name changes, probate, wills and estates, and civil wrongs including boundary disputes. Using her vast experience in family law, business, mediation, and common sense, Vicki will listen to the issues, treat people with dignity and respect, and render a fair decision. People will leave her court understanding the judgment and their future responsibilities. Her management experience and skills will serve her well in controlling the court, keeping it organized and running it in an efficient manner. Her experience in management is vital right now because the Chancellor’s position has been vacant for a year due to the previous Chancellor’s appointment to the Court of Appeals.
Hoover stated, “This situation, as well as the Covid19 outbreak, has left our courts really backed up. I am ready to hit the ground running and get the Chancery Courts backlog caught up and manage the docket for an efficient operation of Chancery Court. I understand the importance of getting the cases filed, scheduled and giving people their day in court. I am a Conservative Christion and will bring fairness and equality to the bench”.
