MARTIN (January 20) — The Fillies’ and Lady Chargers’ lived up to its billing - a must-watch game. And the final result was not certain until the final minute when the Lady Chargers eked out a 59-54 victory in a district contest featuring the two Class 2A teams.
The Huntingdon Fillies scored 13, 16, 12, and 13 in the respective quarters and led by two points at the half.
Lilly Kee led the scoring with 22 points, followed by Sophie Singleton with 16, Sydney Anderson with 7, Lia Fuller with 5, and Annabelle Singleton and Delaney Byars with two each. The team committed 16 fouls in the contest.
Lady Chargers scored 15, 12, 18, and 14 in the respective quarters. The team was led by Jada Harrison with 22 points, Kylee Alexander with 17, McCall Sims with 13, and Jillian Brigance with 7. The team committed 11 fouls.
Westview Chargers achieved a wider margin of victory over the visiting Huntingdon Mustangs. The Chargers maintained a winning margin throughout the contest.
The Mustangs scored 6, 5, 10, and 15 in the respective quarters for a total of 36. Ty Kelley scored 8, Tycen Willis, 7, Kaleb Pearson with 6, Jordan Willis 5, Ethan Ramsey with 4, EJ Lewis with 3, Elijah Flowers with 2, and Noah Smothers with 1.
The Chargers scored 16, 8, 16, 15 in the respective quarters for a total of 55 points. Scoring was led by Dontez Joy with 14, Damanon Pearson with 13, Drew Shanklin with 8, Brett McGuffin with 7, Taylor Haskins wiht 3, Quincy Hamilton with 3, Brady Gardner with 3, Brady Lemons with 2, and Omarion Harris with 2.
