The Macedonia Family and Community Education (FCE) Club met on April 10, 2023 at 1 p.m. at the community center. President Martha Peters called the meeting to order and read the thought for the day, “Kind hearts are the garden. Kind thoughts are the roots. Kind words are the blossoms. McKENZIE (April 12) — Inglenook Book Club held its monthly meeting on April 12, 2023 at 3 p.m. at Lakeside Senior Living Community in McKenzie, with 21 members in attendance. The meeting was called to order by President Carolyn Moore, extending a thank-you to her co-hostess, Mary Newman. Together they served delicious homemade strawberry cheesecake, mixture of nuts/chocolates, and assorted beverages. The tables were decorated with floral designed plates/napkins, and a small potted floral arrangement-definitely a sign that spring is here. more

Over 1000 agencies across the country are working every day to create opportunities and transform the lives of their neighbors, making communities stronger and helping families across the US thrive. This year, Northwest Tenn. Economic Development Council (NWTEDC), a proud member of the Community Action Network, will also commemorate 51 years in service helping families throughout Carroll County, Tennessee. more

McKENZIE (April 18) — McKenzie Rotary Club and the (Rotary) Interact Club at McKenzie High School prepared ‘goodie’ bags for 150 international students at Bethel University in advance of their final test week at the local university. more
HUNTINGDON — Equestrian by Cachengo hosted its grand opening on Saturday, April 22, 2023, noon to 3 p.m. at its new location on Industrial Drive in Huntingdon. A ribbon-cutting event was hosted by the Carroll County Chamber of Commerce. more

HUNTINGDON (April 19) — Huntingdon Special School District Board of Education is seeking a $1 million Innovative School Model grant to better prepare students in middle and high school for future success. The school also plans to add five teachers to the faculty for the upcoming school year. more
Weakley County Schools is honored to celebrate Mr. Jeff Cupples, the incoming director of schools. Director Cupples has already hit the ground running in transitioning to the position with preparations to work alongside the School Board and current Director of Schools Randy Frazier, who is set to leave the role officially at the end of May. more

HUNTINGDON — There was a quiet transition of ownership of Webb Dental Clinic on April 1, 2023. Dr. Billy Webb sold his family dental practice to Dr. Katelyn Robertson, who joined the practice in the summer of 2022 shortly after graduating from the University of Tennessee Health Science Center with a doctorate in Dental Surgery. more
McKENZIE (April 18) — Dr. Justin Barden was selected as the new director of schools for the McKenzie Special School District. Barden, a native of Jackson, received five votes out of seven during a special-called meeting to choose the next director of schools. more
JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (April 21) — The new Crooked Creek Wildlife Refuge in Carroll County is named in memory of Sergeant Lee Russell, who died in August 2022 while serving in the in the aviation division of the Tennessee Highway Patrol where he assisted with search and rescue, warrant execution, air cover, and more. more

McKENZIE (APRIL 20) — The Tennessee Civil Court of Appeals convened at Bethel University’s Crisp Arena on Thursday, April 20. The three-judge panel heard arguments in three cases as approximately 250 students from McKenzie, Gleason, Henry County, Huntingdon, Clarksburg, Hollow Rock-Bruceton, Bethel University and Tennessee College of Applied Technology. more
